Bowerbirds are having their CD release party this Friday at 305 South in Durham. Megafaun (3/4 of the now-defunct DeYarmond Edison, re-formed like Voltron) is opening, along with other local badasses Des Ark, Horseback, Heather whatsherface, and maybe some other peeps. Basically, it's the best show in the history of the world except for that time Jesus played bass for The Beatles. I'd be there if I weren't heading up to DC for teh Arcade Fire show the same day.

For those of you who haven't heard 'em, Bowerbirds make perfect little folky songs about nature 'n' whatnot, and they're one of my absolute favorite bands at the moment (local or otherwise). They're opening for The Rosebuds on their upcoming tour, and they've gotten a lot of love from the blogs.

Megafaun are, basically, badasses, making the best countryfolkavantnoiserootsmusic on the planet. They give great handjobs, too.

If you don't know Des Ark, you probably shouldn't be reading this thread.

I've never seen Horseback live, but I'm really digging on his new joint and definitely want to see him at some point.

Anyways. 9:00 p.m. at 305 South this Friday night.

i thought this was the midtown dickens release show (which makes it FAR less appealing.) that's further off, but also at 305 south and also featuring megafaun and bowerbirds.
