On June 9th, our very own WPC Executive Direct Bobby Purcell will be recognized as the 1# fundraiser in the nation for all of college athletics. Congrats Bobby!" |

Purcell, recently named college athletics fundraiser of the year, said the Wolfpack Club is nearing its goal of 20,000 members. Only two other NCAA schools, Texas A&M and Clemson, have ever reached that level of membership. Purcell said the club is less than 1,000 away from reaching that goal. That gets a big WOW anytime!!!!! 5/9/2007 1:23:07 AM |

^^Didn't realize what you meant until I read he was a UNC grad. I thought you meant he was born in Chapel Hill.

Maybe I am misunderstanding. Are you telling me that schools like OSU/Michigan/Texas/Alabama have less Club membership than NC State? I find that really hard to believe. I'd like to see a link to the statistics.5/24/2007 12:06:13 PM |

There was a wolfpack club mailing that went out which had stats for the ACC, we were 2nd in booster club membership behind clemson, with UNC at 4th.
My guess is that most of the high profile schools UNC, OSU, Michigan have a large percentage of wal-mart fans who don't care enough to be donors. 5/24/2007 12:30:10 PM |

I think its because a lot of places dont have a "club", they just have normal alumnai, or individuals, or its set up differently. I know UT doesnt have a club, it has several groups that are similar though, like the VASF which is the Volunteer Athletics and Scholarship Fund 5/24/2007 1:51:29 PM |

Just thought it was interesting we can only get 14% of the alumni to join. (assuming these #'s are correct)5/24/2007 2:02:44 PM |

That doesn't suprise me. Its an engineering school with a lot of geeks who don't care about sports. Where I work in Maryland there are 100's of NCSU grads and its hard to find someone who cares about NCSU athletics.
Its is so bad that the 2nd biggest pack fan I know (other than myself) is my wife who grew up in MD and went to Illinois. Becoming a pack fan was a requirement before I would marry her. 5/24/2007 4:48:18 PM |
