I recently inherited a deck and a sub from my roommate (who inherited it from his girlfriends parents) and neither of us know anything about hooking this stuff together.

I'd be extremely grateful if someone could tell me :

1) what kind of cables I need and where they go
2) what kind of satellite speakers I should get (I'm going for a 2.1 setup)

I'm looking for some affordable, quality speakers, btw.

Pictures are here:

Thanks

Is that all that's on the sub? There should be some more jacks...

If that IS all, the best way to hook it up is to set the receiver up for non-surround mode, connect the subs to the B output (and speakers to A obviously), and run the receiver in A+B mode.

Other than that... just get some red/white RCA audio cables and plug them in to your devices.

What price range are you looking for on the speakers?

You don't need anything special, just get some 16 or 22 gauge speaker wire from any audio store. Since it's a "hand-me-down" receiver, which is still a nice one. Try to see if you can get some "hand-me-down" speakers. Look at getting some decent 50-60rms wattage speakers. JBL makes some decent/cheap speakers.
