I've heard about this, but this will not happen.
No this year.
no way in hell.
That Rookie that the Eagles drafted is nowhere near ready to start in the NFC East.
Yes, McNabb is injury prone, no doubt about that, but just last season that offense was fucking lethal when he was healthy. I think the eagles have a good one or 2 more years left in the tank before they start looking for replacements for McNabb & Westbrook, etc.
To Trade McNabb for one really good defensive player would be absolutely ridiculous. 5/21/2007 10:39:13 PM |

Getty Images Was the recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb a sign that the Philadelphia Eagles might trade Donovan McNabb before the 2007 season?
That's one theory, anyway. As for a possible destination, the Chicago Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. They might have won it last year except for a glaring weakness at quarterback.
The key to this scenario is Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, who has said publicly that he will never play for Chicago again and who refused to report to minicamp on Friday.
Briggs is, arguably, the best weakside linebacker in the game and is only 26. He could help Philly rebuild its defense while Kolb gets ready to take control of the offense.

for the record, though briggs is a beast, he's a little bitch.
therefore he would fit in perfectly with the iggles. 5/21/2007 10:44:15 PM |

good lord, a LB for a QB?
NFL trades are so crazy sometimes.
Ultimately I think the deal would be alright for both teams though.
McNabb is getting older and has proven to be injury prone. The Eagles are nowhere near being Super Bowl contenders without a running game or a strong defense.
The Bears would obviously improve considerably by adding McNabb. 5/21/2007 11:24:52 PM |

Lets see....iggles trade the soup man...new QB is too green to start immediately...AJ Feeley has to play for a while...more spotlight and TV time for Heather Mitts...
excellent idea 5/21/2007 11:27:51 PM |

if they were gonna make a deal like this they should have kept Garcia.
Although I think Feely's starting record for the Eagles is like 5-0 5/21/2007 11:32:05 PM |

Kolb
Feely
No way this goes down unless Philly moves on another QB that is more substantial

Well ya gotta think that maybe Philly knows something about McNabb that no one else does. Why else would they go through obvious means to try and find another QB of the future after letting Garcia go? This could end up being a crap deal for the Bears if McNugget goes Culpepper on em... 5/22/2007 10:56:04 AM |

^Garcia was in position to get alot of money after his perfomance last season. The Eagles knew that they werent going to pay that much for a late 30's QB in the twilight of his career, so they let him become a free agent and didnt resign him.
The new QB, Kolb?, on the other had, is not only a security blanket for an injury prone McNabb, but he will be groomed to take McNabb's place in a few years when McNabbs contract runs out and they choose not to resign him. There is no way in hell either Kolb or Feeley could take over and lead this team to anything more than 4 wins. 5/22/2007 10:59:57 AM |

McNabb had one of the greatest streaks of games in NFL history at the beginning of last year for a QB....
Unless there is something really F'ed up that the Eagles know... he is staying until the end. 5/22/2007 12:50:26 PM |

i think the bears would instantly be favorites for repeating as NFC champs
considering mcnabb is still 100x the QB grossman will ever be 5/22/2007 12:52:28 PM |

Wow, I don't want to believe this is possible. Philly fans will really go crazy on the Eagles Org. This would give Bears the favorite to win the East and meet the Patriots in the SB. I just would not understand how

This would be cool and I possibly work out OK for both teams, but why would they trade inside the NFC? I don't see teams purposely giving another competitor an advantage 5/23/2007 12:47:33 AM |

you're completely wrong.
Eagle fan has been toying a mcnabb trade for a while... even though he is their darling, they are beginning to get fed up..
plus he's getting older, and the eagles are notorious for cutting ties with older players.
hell, on philly sports talk radio the other day they had a segment toying iwth trading mcnabb for farve, get a year or two out of farve while kolb is groomed, and try and make a run.
imagine that if you will5/23/2007 8:45:03 AM |

they don't play each other that much....so it's not a big deal. Now if they were in the same division, it would be different.5/23/2007 8:51:31 AM |

I believe the Philly fans will flip out if McNabb is traded for a LB with no QB security. Let's be serious, if they traded McNabb for Favre that is totally different than trading for LB and being stuck with Feely or Kolb this year.

I still think that when healthy, McNabb is a top 5 qb.
I think he's much better than Favre is at this point, so they would get nothing out of trading for him, except a better draft pick. 5/23/2007 1:20:57 PM |

Point taken, I was limiting my statement to just McNabb for Briggs and no QB compensation. However, I can see your point.
