Quote : | "Activision has rocked our world by officially announcing that Guitar Hero III will feature wireless guitars, an online multiplayer mode and original artists recordings when the game is released this Autumn.
Guitar Hero III will be available on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii and will feature an abundance of new modes, including a multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, boss battles, unlockable content and authentic rock venues.
More importantly, wannabe rock gods can get their fingers in a twist with the all-new wireless guitar controllers, with the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 getting the Gibson Les Paul and PS2 the proud recipient of a Gibson Kramer. What's more, the guitars will have removable faceplates that allow fans to personalise their guitars, plus they'll include a new button colour design for "an even greater authentic feel and rock experience".
In addition Guitar Hero III will include an expanded online multiplayer in which axe-shredders worldwide can compete in head-to-head battles to prove they're the ultimate rock legend. As for the tracks you'll be rocking along to, Activision has revealed that GHIII features more master recordings than ever before, with the first tracks announced as follows:
Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones
Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumpkins
Sabotage - Beastie Boys
The Metal - Tenacious D
My Name is Jonas - Weezer
Knights of Cydonia - Muse
Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Slow Ride - Fog Hat
Cult of Personality - Living Colour
Barracuda - Heart
Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane, said: "The development team at Neversoft has been exceptional and we've been able to incorporate a host of fresh new online and multiplayer game play modes, along with exciting content into this version of Guitar Hero that our fans have been asking for. Also, many of the top bands and songs we've tried to get in the past are now on board."" |

fucking sweet - sounds like it will be on the heels of GH 80's
so basically instead of having the controls for activating star power built into your guitar, you have to put the wii controller in it?

Well that's just a mockup anyway, since the article says the Wii controller will be a Paul.
Even though I probably won't get one, I like the idea that the PS2 controller will be a Kramer, since the SG and LP never came with a vibrato tailpiece remotely similar to the whammy bar that comes on the current controller.

Stop trolling.
Think of it from Activsion's perspective. If I understand correctly, the controller won't just sit there. The wiimote will actually plug into the guitar. If they can get it working right, they won't need to have the wireless functionality built into the guitar for the wii version. The wiimote would take care of that. Thats one less thing to have to program. Thats less hardware. Thats more profit.
They would be crazy not to take advantage of that.5/23/2007 12:01:37 PM |

the thing with rock band is, you can split that $200 up with 3 other people and it comes out to $50--that's cheaper than buying a guitar and the software for any guitar hero game. plus you get to play multiplayer with your friends that'll be unparalleled by any guitar hero so far. 5/23/2007 11:35:11 PM |

Here's another article I found. No real new info except for one small nugget. This articles confirms which songs will be originals and wish ones will be covers. Looks like from the first list, the songs that will be using the original artist recordings are:
* Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones) * Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins) * Sabotage (by Beastie Boys) * The Metal (by Tenacious D) * My Name is Jonas (by Weezer) * Knights of Cydonia (by Muse) * Cult of Personality (by Living Colour)
That's good info. I'm pretty sure if I had to listen to a lame cover of Sabotage, I'd poke my eyes out. And yay for original Weezer and Pumpkins too.

Also the Wiki page says Queens of the Stone Age and Velvet Revolver are two other bands that have been confirmed to have songs on GHIII. ] 5/24/2007 2:09:05 PM |

El Nachó special helper 16370 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, I was listening to that yesterday and wondering the same thing. A few songs in GHII switch back and forth from the bass line to the regular guitar, so they'll probably end up doing that. I think it's mainly whatever's cool/most fun to play. 5/24/2007 2:19:31 PM |
