so this 60 something year old guy comes up to me today (at the theater) and says, "Listen son, I've been watching movie films for over 40 years now, and this movie, Bug, was the dumbest, most sensless piece of crap I've ever seen."

I asked him, "Sir, why did you pick it"
and he said, "because it got 3 stars in the paper and it was supposed to be a good horror movie but it was just stupid. People were laughing the whole time... Don't recommend this movie to anyone."

I laughed him off, but thought to myself... I think I know what I'm watching Sunday night.

After seeing the trailer and deducing what this movie was basically going to be and what the "scary parts" of this movie would consist of, I'm not really interested in seeing this.

Haven't watched it but I don't really want to watch dillusional people ripping each other's skin off and beating each other to death over some fucking bugs they think they see.

Now I haven't seen this movie nor have I read anything about it, so don't take that as a spoiler, just my guess of what this movie will be at the core, haha.

For those who saw the preview:

The movie is nothing like the preview. There are no "scary/jump" moments. The film is a psychological thriller of sorts, basically about two people who go insane. There are no scary moments. I think this is why people are disliking it so much because they are being misled into thinking it is a horror film.

I didn't think it would be "scary" so to say, I felt like it would be more gore than anything. Like people disfiguring each other and themselves in attempts to kill bugs that aren't there.

apparently it was originally a character study play shown off broadway. the only original actor is shannon. it's all about two people who are both 'broken' and become dependent on each other, eventually creating a shared delusion in an isolated environment.

haven't seen the movie, don't know if i will.

see htat sounds like a pretty good plot, if it were more geared towards drama than horror. a nice suspsenseful drama would be welcomed.

i saw it this afternoon, most people in the theater did not seem pleased with it, but having read God's description of it in this thread, i knew sort of what to expect, so i enjoyed it more than the other people i think. overall, i thought it was just ok, worth a watch, but not really worth seeing in the theater

There was a pretty good review of it on NPR. Like what many have said, it didn't sound like a horror film so much as suspense.

i'd be mad if i paid $16 to watch it with my gf...it's definitely a rental type of movie anyway because even if you like it, the theater experience will suck because you will always have an audience with a few people who can't grasp or comprehend the concept or type of movie it is.

I saw it tonight, and I thought it was incredible.

I went in expecting a psychological thriller i guess? and got just that.

although on the way out, a few people were saying it was the worst movie they'd ever seen, hah.

the whole conversation with the doctor was hilarious
