Anyone up here know of any NCSU bars if such a thing exists? Alternatively, an alumni group or anything that gets together to watch games? Or anyone want to just watch the game with me haha 10/26/2013 3:31:02 PM |

I've put serious consideration in moving to NYC, probably somewhere in Brooklyn, and taking a low-paying job in the field I'm interested in--could easily make it happen, but not really decided. Would be a tight financial situation to say the least, and it would be a overwhelmingly outside of any setting I've lived in, but that's also kinda the point.
Raleigh --> NYC is an interesting transition I'm sure. 10/26/2013 9:00:49 PM |

^^I was on my phone at the bar so no but thanks for the link.
yeah I grew up in Raleigh and haven't lived anywhere else so it is kinda crazy. the cost of living isn't as bad as you think. Yes, your housing situation is going to be smaller but you'll have access to so much cooler shit and you won't spend that much time in your apt. I mean to live in downtown Raleigh at like the Hue or Dawson is going to run you $1400 for a one bedroom and you can get studios in Brooklyn or Queens for $1,100 or so, or find a roommate and pay $700+ 10/27/2013 1:31:09 PM |

143rd street.....Harlem represent!
Check out Brother Jimmy's if you want to find your NCSU fans. It's the "ACC bar" and there are several in the city but it can get a little crowded. Other than that, Dinosaur BBQ on 125th and Riverside is a good place to watch games and get food.
That's probably a bit of a hike from where you are, but there's an equally badass BBQ place in Long Island City called The Strand Smokehouse.
And to whoever was talking about the transition, yes it's goddamn insane but the amount of shit you can do makes it well worth it. One funny thing about living here for a while is how awesome it is to leave for a while every month or so. The insanity of all the people and shit going on can get to you sometimes and it's very relaxing to go back to Raleigh every once in a while.

^^In South Harlem, 116th St!
Moved here in August. Loving the city and glad I was able to find a place Manhattan, not that it's better than Queens or Brooklyn, but for my interests it is. So much cool stuff going on all the time, my wife and I have to actively resist it and stay home in an effort to save money. (Lots of cool free stuff, though, which draws us out)
I'll have to start heading to Brother Jimmy's on game days. 10/27/2013 9:00:40 PM |

^^ Shit, I'm right by you almost every day. I'm finishing up my last semester at columbia so M-F I'm usually in the area. I used to live on the corner of Claremont and Tiemann. There's a badass juice bar there if you're into that sort of thing.
I loved here August last year and it's been a blast but I think I'm ready to move on after I graduate. Whatcha up here for? 10/28/2013 1:36:17 AM |

Pretty much everyone on TWW is old enough to be in Old School now. Probably >10% of the active users are undergrad age. 10/28/2013 8:31:31 AM |
