I agree with what most of packpride says. though Harris is a good assistant coach he wont make or break the program.

I truly hope that this isn't true and if so that we can pay Coach Harris enough to keep him here.

Having a top recruiter is HUGE for any program, and even if we have a great amount of success this year, Sidney won't be able to do it all on his own. Harris has enough experience and is so good at recruiting that it's helping Sidney out a lot.

At least wait until your son graduates Coach Harris, we need you to help Sidney get more experience and we need a few more top 20 recruiting classes, haha.

He's staying..but I hear we're still not paying him what we should. Unless they are just waiting to work out an extension I am not happy because he will bolt next time a good offer comes. We can only flirt with fire so many times.

But ya gotta think:
He was our assistant head coach when Herb was here. What kind of players did we recruit?
players for Herb's Princeton sytem that came here mainly for that system and Herb's style of play.
He is still our assistant head coach with Sid (which was mainly to stay with his son and help transition to a new head coach). What kind of players do we recruit?
players for Sid's NBA style system / Sid's style of play...

Im sure Coach Harris leaving would be a loss we feel in many ways but it is not THAT big of a deal in the long run. Sidney Lowe is the only coach we really need to make sure that we hold onto at all costs.... How many of our incoming players were wooed mostly by Harris? (Fells & Thomas maybe?) I know that Sid did most of the work himself on Hickson and Towe did the work on Javy... I think that even if we do lose him then we will still be heading in the right direction. Who knows? maybe Sid has an even more ballin asst. coach in the works to replace Harris now that he has shown he is the real deal? If that were the case then the whole staff probably is happy for Harris that he is getting big money thrown at him no matter where it comes from....

Im actually surprised he is not getting HEAD coach offers.

He is older now and probably wants a shot at running a program on his own, but he didn't take the Duquesne job.

Beerz, you're an idiot. Harris has been picked as a top assistant in the nation a few times. I think it was two years ago he was picked as a top 10 assistant coach in Div. 1.

If you think Sid gets all the credit for our fun season last year or our recruiting sucess, you're a moron. On the recruiting front, I think roughly half the sucess could be chalked up to the assistants.

And I wasnt kidding.... I know he's a great Asst. Coach, but at the same time if he's THAT good ya gotta understand he needs to do whats best for himself and get the $$ that only the tiptop programs can pay. While I am a diehard NCSU fan and always want the best for us, I know thats the way it all works....

All im saying is he's not gone yet and we don't even know what it'll be like when he's gone.

he is the link from modern day Sydney ball to former Herb ball...which is a good thing as far as getting the "new" coaches accustomed to the program
