this would be really cool if it worked in a dynamic universe instead of a static one (ie EVE instead of WoW)...if players can actually take planets and zones and actually change the environment they play in...it'll be awesome

Yeah it'd suck to be like the astrometrics officer or something. I'm wondering how they're going to do it. I bet like 75% of the players are going to pick either Command class or Security/Engineer class, with only a few left picking Medical or Science.

I thought when I originally read about this, you had to work your way up

I was under the impression that everyone would start at the academy, and then based on how you progressed, that is the role you would fill

and I’m betting game will initially be all federation, and if it works, expansions will be other races

This would be cool to do:

To become Borg you have to let your ship get taken over / destroyed by the Borg. Then you become a Borg and from then on your character is an NPC in the Borg collective (because who has free will in the borg collective anyway?).

The idea of your character being taken is interesting, but adds the sense of "death" to an MMO which would also kill the game

No one wants to spend 6 months building a character only to have a borg cube wipe it out and you have to start over

If there was an option to be borg, they would need to be severly nerfed to keep the game balanced.
