i have boston green M3. it is nice color, especially at night. it will grow on you.
that difference in insurance is nothing. if you are looking at $15/month as big cost you really shouldn't be looking at BMWs of any age in the first place.
the cost of parts for 3-series and M3 is almost identical. 5/28/2007 11:51:12 PM |

not $15 a month difference, $25 a month + the cost difference. i cant afford an m3 that isnt an automatic or ragged out.
i mean if you can find a clean m3 for under $8500 without a million miles then let me know, cause i havent seen anything. the closest ive seen for anything is $10k, id be screwed if anything broke because id have no money.

duh, $25...
i thought you meant cost of ownership. yeah most M3 will be high mileage in that price category, but as long you have maintenance records you should be fine. big things...engine, tranny rarely go out on these cars. it is small stuff that will nickel and dime you. cooling system, suspension, bushings, etc.

the problem is that stuff like that is more like quarter and half-dollar on that car. 5/29/2007 8:56:15 AM |

^ain't that the truth
I have $200 a month going into an account to use for car repairs when needed. If you aren't in the position where you can scrape up a grand in a couple of weeks for unforseen repairs, you might want to reconsider what you can truly afford. 5/29/2007 10:49:41 AM |

parts, labor and common problems are identical on 3-series and M3s. the only difference in cost will be the actual price of the car. imo, $2-3k difference is worth considering, especially because M3s will always have decent resale value...even with 200-250k+ miles. 5/29/2007 5:37:58 PM |

^^ i can get a 328is with great records and under 100k miles for under $8k, or i could get an m3 in similar condition for about $14k if i look around.
yeah thats a pretty easy decision for me to make.
^not tons of clean ones with good records and decent mileage on this side of the country that have a 5 speed. trust me, ive been looking.

that car is the responsible choice of the cars ive checked out so far. the silver one has a lot more miles it just looks a lot nicer. ive also driven a 323is but decided pretty quick against checking out any other 323's. im still trying to find something local, and the green really is growing on me, but so far everything ive checked out has been beat up or has problems. even the silver one has a couple things id have to take care of.
the boston green one has 90k miles and good records. he's asking $8500 for it, i might offer $7800. (NADA chrome carbook value is $10,100 retail) 5/29/2007 6:27:44 PM |
