Who knows about this wonderful beverage? I just thought about it today, and it has been so long since I had one.
I'll have to get some shipped to me soon. They ship by the case from beverages direct.

Yeah they have extra hot and mild (which is still spicy). I always go for the extra hot. I believe they are now owned by the people who run South of the Border. 5/29/2007 12:39:53 AM |

I had my first one of those (the spicy one) at an artsy movie theater in Shepherdstown, WV. It is really spicy! Over the years, I've tried to give em to people but they just bitch and moan. Vive la varietie!!! 5/29/2007 3:59:24 AM |

^Doesn't know what he is talking about. And the spice is in fact from the ginger. 5/29/2007 5:56:44 AM |

They sell alot in South Carolina too, my dad buys them by the case when he gets them.
Personally the pink top is a bit much for me. If im gonna sip something spicy, it better be whiskey. 5/29/2007 8:27:32 AM |

Just the shipping would be $15.50 per case, so I'm going to have to make a mission of stockpiling the stuff next time I am within reach of it. 5/29/2007 9:32:40 AM |

My grandmother is from Blenheim, South Carolina where the ginger ale (obviously) originated using water from a spring.
It is the only real ginger ale that I have ever had. Your most common ginger ales really don't contain ginger and are watered down sugary sweet knock offs of the real stuff. I am not a huge fan of Blenheim ginger ales or beers on their own because they pack quite a kick, but add some bourbon and it makes one hell of a drink.
When I go to Blenheim with my grandmother, I always bring home several cases for my friend's parents because they love it with bourbon. 5/29/2007 1:16:16 PM |

You can also get it at the Fresh Market in CV (or, you could the last time I checked...)
Check on that before you pay for shipping!

absolutely. Not only is it spicy but it also has flavor, not something to drink quickly though. 5/29/2007 2:18:05 PM |

Blenheim used to have a really good orange drink called Bee Gee but I haven't seen it in a while. 5/29/2007 3:35:42 PM |

I live in NoVA, so even less likely I find it up here. I may hold out until next time I am down and stockpile the stuff, unless I can find it in Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or Wegmans. 5/29/2007 3:54:02 PM |

It's so good, I have 5 bottles in my fridge right now. For a while I was disappointed b/c I couldn't find it anywhere. It used to be sold at Fresh Market but the one near my house stopped selling it. I found it at the Farmer's Market this weekend and was stoked.
Another good alternative is Reed's Ginger Brew. It's made with fresh Jamaican ginger and is a little more full-bodied (almost like a light beer) than Blenheim, which tends to be a little thinner. Plus Reed's doesn't have any preservatives (Blenheim has sodium benzoate). Don't get me wrong though, Blenheim is really good stuff and the pink top is incredibly spicy. 5/29/2007 4:08:52 PM |
