Rivals updated it for next year. Costner comes in as the #2 SF and McCauley comes in as the #7 PF.

those rankings are inaccurate as fuck
I also question McCauley being ahead of Mbah a Moute
but good press nonetheless

Grant and Fells are nowhere near top 10 in their position.

Well let's all just get out to the RBC Center and support the team. Imagine if we had near sellouts for the Red & White game and for the pre-season games. Imagine the message it would send to the team. I think it would set a tone for the year, and give them a lot of confidence to go out and destroy teams. Plus it'd be great to get into the Top 5 nationally in attendance.

i know. theyre inconsistent and grant is silly but when theyre on they are more athletic and longer than 99% of the guys at their position and can already do anything. block shots rebound win dunk contests make 3s midrange drive or whatever. 6/1/2007 12:38:57 AM |

lmao paulus #8 pg ellington #6 sg
paulus is a great scorer and all but he is a TERRIBLE pg. shouldnt be anywhere near that list. and ellington has had like 3 good games in college. he's all hype. both are prolly still riding off their high school fumes.
fells and grant are both better than paulus and ellington
they play d too 6/1/2007 12:43:35 AM |

if fells wasn't so streaky it'd be a different story.
and if grant didn't immediately turn around and jog back the other way without even appearing to think twice when he gets called for travelling due to its insane frequency, it'd be a different story. 6/1/2007 6:36:46 AM |

How is Sherron Collins ranked behind Paulus? Paulus is a shooter but is a servicable point guard at best. I also wonder if those guys knew who Maynor was before the VCU-Duke game.
I know Rush plays the third guard, but still curious that he was on the "Small Forward" rankings. They need to ditch position names if they are just going to rank guys by what slot they play on their team, and in that case Costner would be a 4 and McCauley a 5.
Another random observation is that Mbah a Moute may end up being the Terrence Morris of the Pac-10.
Good to see Costner/McCauley getting the recognition. 6/1/2007 9:15:54 AM |

Basketball ticket packets usually don't go out until late summer/early fall IIRC. 6/1/2007 9:21:37 AM |

God UCLA would be killing it if they'd have gotten Budinger. He pulled his commitment b/c he didn't want volleyball to be a distraction. With Kevin Love coming, they should have 4 first round picks next year if everyone goes, damn... 6/1/2007 11:21:24 AM |

Costner can be and basically is a small forward. He plays the 3/4 position. 6/2/2007 2:14:35 AM |

we didn't have anyone else who could match up with those guys, he guarded them outta necessity this past year. you'll see Hickson and McCauley guarding those types of guy next year, with some help from Costner.
really, all that holds him back from being a pure 3 is his ability to guard quicker players at that same position. 6/2/2007 2:22:44 AM |

But he is also a good post player and our best rebounder. I would say he's at least as much of a 4 as he is a 3. 6/2/2007 7:34:10 AM |

honorable mention as a team from SI. i can't wait for the big 10 challenge. if we can pull out a W in that game it could propel us to the top 15 in the nation. (assuming we don't lose before that)
interesting that michigan state is going to have the same issues as us in relying on a new guy to take care of the ball, although we are in a better position w/ 3 incoming players that could hopefully run the point effectively.
