I was thinking about that old club on Hillsborough St., I forgot the name of it, but it's been empty for quite a while now....do you guys think it would make for a good hookah lounge? I know that Pi started out as a hookah lounge, but now they stopped serving hookah and it's more of a club now. I'd like to start something similar to Marakesh, but larger with more tables and more variety to eat and drink.

yeah, I figured with a mostly non-Arab customer base, I guess it'd be better to play American music. When I visited my friend in Brooklyn a few months ago, all the hookah lounges played arabic music....but 95% of the customers were arab

The answer to this question is:

NO

Manjrri lounge didnt work for a reason, which is now the Pi bar. There already is a hookah bar on Hillsb. street anyways right across from ricks hall and its never really got a terribly long wait anyways.

you would just be competing for the same customers which means split profits not to mention I dont have a clue where you would imagine putting this place...like what building and all.

The best idea is to start a dance club on hills that is similar to something like in Greenville, because then you would have pi bar and the other which would in turn create a nightlife scene to some extent.

thats my personal feeling...for what its worth.

there's that old club which is empty now on Hillsborough St., past the Wachovia....I'm trying to think what's next to it, I think a printing store, and then that ice cream shop which closed down

restaurant/hookah place would be awesome.... then at night it could be a dance club

because you're not going to make money just off the hookahs... make it more restaurant oriented with a hookah section as well where you can watch tv and shit... music in the background

i know a lot of restaurants in charlotte do this.. not the hookah thing, but restaurant during day and most of the night.. then dance/bar at night
