I think the storm messed my desktop up.

I have tried starting/restarting the computer and get the following message

Could not find system32\config\system or it is corrupted

its says i can repair it by staring windows setup using original cd

i have restarted and tried all of the setup cds that i have

im not what to push

ive gone through the f2 system menu(bios) that has all my computers diagnostics but didnt see a spot to select boot from cd or anything like that

Yes, the storm messed up your system files. Maybe the wind blew the file somewhere in your yard. Try to find it in the morning.

well i thought the storm caused my computer to cut off or something because it was fine when I left and messed up when I got back

I also tried the f8 menu and restarting from last known good configuration

Yeah I got that message as well and found out that I had a virus/worm...and NOTHING would get it off, so I had to reformat! I'm so glad I did though...b/c I deleted every partition and I have so much space now!

i had a similar problem recently

couldnt load one of my registry hives ("security") and gave me BSOD

1st attempt at repairing XP installation failed
I tried other stuff along the lines of restoring default hives
2nd attempt at repairing XP installation worked (kind of my last resort, since it didnt work the first time)

managed to save my HD exactly the way it was
