I think stretching a show to 23-24 episodes a season is ridiculous. Of course I can never see the companies wanting to shorten there seasons and lose all that ad money. I appreciate people like Ricky Gervais who gave us great quality for 12 episodes each of Office and Extras and knowing when to quit.

Well, many of my favorite shows have gone something like this:

1. Change the broadcast night after several episodes
2. Long, indefinite hiatuses
3. Decrease the number of episodes ordered
4. Another long hiatus
5. Cancellation
6. Dump the final month or two's worth of shows onto one night

I don't know... Arrested Development was better when it was a longer season because they tried too hard to get as many jokes in as possible in Season 3, although it was still gold.
