Can anyone tell if this rim was welded rather than COMPLETELY replaced- its looking to me like it could be a "factory defect"...but honestly- I don't think it was replaced- I think they welded it, and I am being charged for a $656 rim.

Well..I definitely had a tire blow out- I drove on the rim, and then I took it to this place on Capital Blvd. It took 3 weeks- they TOLD ME they ordered a new rim- I paid for a new rim- I got home and it looked like this- it also FEELS raised, and feels like their are two different metals used on it..its shady.

they couldn't have welded it. they could have repaired it (sanded/polished the damage).

either way, you've got a bent rim. if you haven't hit anything, then they should

why in the hell did you pay $656 in the first place?? what kind of vehicle is this? that's more than dealer pricing for most stuff.

2007 Chevy Tahoe
And SUPPOSEDLY- there are 6 different wheel options and mine "was the hardest one to find".
There was an ACTUAL GASH in the rim...but it was bent JUST LIKE THAT BEFORE.
I didn't notice it until I got home.

you got bent over. take that wheel back and make them give you a new one. and 656 is wayyy too much to pay for that rim

They are alloy, the sun was reflecting- made it hard to get a clear picture.
I'm pissed.

troubleshooter@wtvd.com

E-mail them your story if the people that replaced it give you any shit.

You should also get a dealer quote on an OEM rim plus labor to install the wheel and ask for a refund of the difference.

Thank You.
I have been back by the place once- they said "we'll check with the company and see if they will take it back, and call you"...that was like Wed. I haven't heard anything. Hmm..

did they use lube first? They probably had it fixed for $75, and then pocketed the rest.

20 in alloy rim, right on the lip, 4 or 5 foot drop, of course. But between that or factory defect I dunno.

I can believe it. MSRP for one factory wheel for my Marauder (18 x 8 chrome) is about $650.

"Hardest one to find" should, I think, be a non-issue for a vehicle that is still in production!!! Maybe it was backordered or something...but that would be "hard to get quickly" and not "hard to find".

if they are in fact the 20's, i can see the price being that high. especially if it had to be sourced oem. it still doesn't exscuse the obvious bent lip though, or the possibility that it's not even a new rim since you previously had a bent lip.

even my mom knows that when you get something on the car fixed, you ask to see/keep the part that was replaced.
