There is this invention called google that allows a user to search for something that they are looking for, and the "google" engine will provide you with results.
In this example, I used the "google" to search for what you requested in your thread, and the "google" was able to return the results of this query in 0.2 seconds.

1 Black 1 then 2 white are 3 all I see 5 in my infancy. 8 Red and yellow then came to be, 5 reaching out to me, 3 lets me see.
13 As below, so above and beyond, I imagine 8 drawn beyond the lines of reason. 5 Push the envelope. 3 Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

this just looks like some coincidental shit to me. all the picking and choosing when to arbitrarily restart the sequence or reverse it. 6/19/2007 9:15:50 AM |

if you listened to the song you would know it's not arbitrary.6/19/2007 10:48:33 AM |

heh. i was in college too. i was expecting you guys to have been 14 when this came out, because that's the only acceptable age to 1) like tool and 2) buy this farfetched bullshit.
what's that whole theory about making objects out of clouds? something about how the human brain will try make patterns where they don't exist. i would expect this falls somewhere in that. and even if they DID make this very weak fibonacci stuff. so what? is it really any cooler than if they had done their album in haiku? 6/19/2007 10:54:35 AM |

Came out early 2001 if i recall. I graduated Spring of 2003 from HS. So it was the end of my sophomore year I guess.
I know i saw them in oct of that year which would have been the fall of my junior year.
but on topic the article the guy wrote that i read 5 years ago was definitely far fetched even tho some of the elements are there. regardless, Tool writes some very interesting and enjoyable music

i have it. Wasn't that impressed. If you want to hear it sure, I guess it's there. If you want every song to blend right into the next... sure it's gonna. Of course let's not forget they use pretty much the same chord progressions on most of their songs so it's not that big of leap for the end of one song to seem to fit right into the beginning of another.
If you want it, send me an aim name or something and I'll send it to you later tonight.
The syllables in lateralus may have very well been intentional, i think they were.
ButI think the whole rearranging the songs thing is just a case of someone wanting something to be there.
But let's take a line straight from the song: "Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind"
I'm a huge Tool fan... I've traveled countless of hours to see them live, buy the albums the day they come out. I know far more about the band and it's members then I should. And I don't buy into this. 6/19/2007 11:07:58 AM |

i don't care if it's real or if it's not...i just wanted to hear it. just like i don't believe the whole pink floyd/wizard of oz crap, but that didn't stop me from trying it once.
i'm not saying i buy in to it, i just wanted to hear it all meshed together.

^^ I just have heard and read a lot of talk about this and didn't think it lived up to the hype. And my point was that I'm a big fan, thus perhaps more likely than joe blow to buy into it is all. Or at least more likely to want to hear it, and like I said when someone wants to hear something they are more likely to find it (whether it exists or not) than somebody who is indifferent. And as much as I was listening for it, i felt like it didn't come close to what people suggested. To be honest, I felt like it was kind of a waste of time finding the mp3. The only consolation was that the music itself is still enjoyable so listening to it was no more of a waste then sitting around listening to the album.
I wasn't trying to thwart you from listening to it, I was just discussing the topic because I'm bored at work and have heard the thing before.
That being said, I'll send it to you tonight so you can make up your own mind. 6/19/2007 12:20:22 PM |
