I am looking to buy a muscle car from the sixties or seventies to fix up. Anyone have any recommendations as to what to buy/ where? I am partial myself to dodge chargers, or a gto. 6/20/2007 9:35:30 PM |

since you're partial to dodge you say, it's hard to beat an A body mopar. this includes your valient, dart, duster, demon, etc. still relatively cheap (they are starting to go up though). parts are cheap and easy to find, etc.
post 1970 chargers aren't too bad yet, but good luck finding a 68-70 for a reasonable price. pre 68's are much better. 6/20/2007 10:12:44 PM |

It won't buy you much of anything as far as chargers, GTO, A-body GM's etc, but I would think something a little off the beaten path could still be had on that budget. A body mopar like BBR suggested, a Maverick or maybe a Fairlane or Torino, umm...are there any Vegas left? One of those would be a neat little car with a 350.... perhaps a lesser-known sibling of the Nova like a Ventura or Apollo... find one with a 6 or one of the lower-end V8's with a straight body, then go from there? 6/20/2007 11:18:54 PM |

there was a running/driving 360/3 speed duster on CL for $1500 just a couple weeks ago. definitely expect to sink some after purchase money into something in that price range though. 6/20/2007 11:26:12 PM |

yeah, i was expecting that. i am looking for a car that runs, but cosmetically/ performance wise it may not be so hot 6/20/2007 11:31:19 PM |

looking for one to fix up, you might be better off with one that doesnt run and is in good shape. 6/20/2007 11:37:52 PM |

please get a 60's econoline van and put a big motor in it 6/20/2007 11:51:03 PM |

^^true. assuming you don't care about getting wild with the motor, it's generally cheaper to rebuild it or throw a crate motor in something than it is to do body/interior work. 6/20/2007 11:55:57 PM |

yeah, crate motors arent too much, that is probably the best option 6/21/2007 12:16:30 AM |

The only way to profit from fixing up old autos is to fix other peoples. If you are doing this for yourself then it is much wiser save and purchase one that is allready complete.6/21/2007 12:57:11 PM |
