I'm looking at a new project, its a 99 tacoma. Air bag light is on, will this fail the vehicle for state inspections? Can I disable it, or is it going to be one of those $1000+ trips to the dealer to make it right? (truck was involved in a minor front end collision at some point in its life, I don't think the bags deployed) 6/24/2007 11:25:02 AM |

air bag light has nothing to do with state inspections, only the check engine light... take the bulb out if it bothers you 6/24/2007 12:03:09 PM |

yeah it wont matter.
you dont have to get a dealer to fix it.
if all the airbags have been replaced, then they probably forgot to replace the airbag controller. 6/24/2007 3:13:50 PM |

in a toyota, disconnect the battery for a couple minutes and it should get rid of it. Unless there is still a problem. 6/24/2007 6:05:36 PM |

If clearing the light dosent work, just get someone with a scantool that will read the toyota SRS system to pull the fault for you. It could be bad clockspring, pretensioner, etc etc.
[Edited on June 24, 2007 at 6:31 PM. Reason : or, pull the SRS fuse and the lamp from the cluster. ] 6/24/2007 6:31:14 PM |

^ thats probably what I'll do primer. I'm getting a killer deal on this truck, its a bit beat especially for being a 99, but the price is right. I'll make a thread about it when I pick it up 2morrow. 6/24/2007 6:50:15 PM |
