and changing OS's

About 2 months ago I purchased vista home basic.
about a month ago I was re-instated to the MSDN agreement thing
I purchased vista professional or office or whatever its called (nt, xp-pro equivalent)

So now I have a perfectly legit copy of Vista that I paid $200 for and activated...

If I sell it can the next person activate it? as in I want to sell it for $100 but I don't want to be screwing anybody over...

i dont see why not.

i mean, im sure theres something in the license agreement that prevents you from selling it, but i know with XP all the new user would have to do is call the activation line, and as long as it wasn't running on more than 1 pc all would be good. i dont know if that works with vista too.

if you upgraded to vista then the answer is no. if you installed a full version of vista then yes.

just throwing this out there, but there's a good chance they'll have to call to re-activate since it'll be different hardware... shouldn't be a problem but good info to know in advance

retail or OEM copy? if it's OEM then you can't legally sell it unless you're selling the PC with it. the retail version will need to be reactivated with different hardware but not sure if that'll require a call to microsoft.

OEM or educational version, you cannot resell those. Retail version is fine, although with Vista's new activation software, they require you to active pretty much after 2 or more hardware changes are detected. Calling it in isn't that big of a deal now.
