It was nothing like 3. I still have never seen 2 but the first one was good but very very very slow paced and more like a cat and mouse. I also didn't notice how long ago 1996 was. The technology was prehistoric. There wasn't much emotion in the movie or anything to really pull you in and make you sympathize with ethan like the third one.

The only gripe on the third one was not showing him get the rabbits foot. Other than that it was pretty much a perfect movie.

I don't see how you guys can say 2 wasn't a spy movie or was just action. I'm not saying it was great but there was alot of espionage involved. I actually thought they overdid the mask thing in 2.

MI:1 was the best because it was the only good spy movie to come out in a very long time. The only other one that comes to mind around that time was Spy Game which was OK. I was really impressed with the first MI, the other two were OK, but didn't need to be made.

M:I3 was a 2 hour episode of Alias starring Tom Cruise instead of Jennifer Garner

M:I one was absolutely the best of the 3 and M:I2 was absolutely the worst

1 is the best because 2 sucked so bad that it has to be considered the best...but the thing is they're all different movies that just have the same character and the same titles

1 is the best thinking-story spy movie

3 is the best action-story spy movie

2 is the best cheesy-i-wanna-look-cool-jumping-off-a-motorcycle-in-slow-motion-while-i-fight-a-bad-guy-that-looks-like-the-dude-from-third-eye-blind movie



and Spy Game is a great thinking spy movie

along the same lines, the Bourne movies are great thinking and action spy movies
