Not very computer savvy and would like to know what is the best model to aquire (laptop). I'm mainly concerned with loading time (would like for it to be fast), would like for it to have a DVD player on board, and would like for it to be durable and reliable. (Oh yeah, would love for it to pick up any wireless internet i.e. D.H. Hill) Thank you for any information that you may so graciously provide me with.

A Mac is your best choice, I think, but you'd want to go with a current gen MacBook, not an older iBook.

all those people did in a lot of those threads was talk junk about what each other said. but i think that from what was provided in that search, the macbook or the ibm x series were the two best choices. does anyone disagree with that statement??

It all depends on how much you want to spend, and what you want to do with it. If you're just looking for basic features (wifi browsing, dvd movies, music, etc) then a mac book would be perfect. They come in black or white, and will have everything you need. The Lenovo (company taking over the PC division of IBM) Thinkpad X or T series is also a good choice. My younger brother just got a T60p and it's defin worth a look. Again it all just depends on how much money you want to spend.

But yeah in my opinion a mac book, thinkpad, or even a dell would be the best choices for a laptop. Dell has the quickest, and most efficient tech support of the three in my opinion. I've found this out because my household has 2 macs, a few dells, and a thinkpad. Whenever the mac book pro or thinkpad broke it took quite the effort to get them fixed.

On the otherhand when the dells break, there's someone at your house in the next day or two to fix the problem for free (covered under included warranties). Or if you want a replacement part you can chat online (skipping the whole annoying phone conversations) and explain to them the situation and they'll have the part to your house in the next couple days. Although this all depends on how careful you are with your computer. Most laptops won't break if you're careful with them. So support is not always top priority.

the specs you've listed are covered by literally almost any new laptop you can buy today within reason.. All the top brands offer a model around $1000 that should cover everything that you are looking for and probably more.
