Old threads are dead.

Anyone been following this at all? IGN has a new article up saying there is still lots of tweaking left and had to run the game at 1024x768 just to get it to run smoothly during a playtest. Here's to hoping they get that shit worked out before release because this game looks absolutely amazing.

I'm pretty excited.

I last upgraded my PC 1.5 years ago in preparation for Oblivion. I'm now going to upgrade it again for this.

^ I feel ya on that one. My comp is basically 4-5 years old and needed a new vid card just to get Oblivion to run. As soon as the fin aid comes in I'm building a monster rig for this.

Crysis Single Player Demo Coming September 25

Monday, August 27, 2007 5:00 PM PDT

EA announced on Monday that a single player demo for the highly anticipated Crysis is coming to PC on September 25.

The demo features the entire first level of the game's campaign mode and is said to include a "huge surprise" by developer Crytek.

Crysis is one of the most anticipated PC games of the year due to its unmatched visuals and having won several industry awards including Best PC Game at last week's Games Convention and Best PC Game of E3 2007 according to the Game Critics Awards.

Crysis will be "lighting up rigs" worldwide on November 16, 2007."

There are a few badass trailers on gametrailers.com, the gameplay looks nuts, it makes Farcry 2 look like utter shit.

Yeah, considering none of the consoles are dx10 compatable, if you have a PC that will run it then you should probably buy it for PC.

That's a terrible idea.

Why? It's a PC FPS. In general PC FPS fans hate Halo.

I think you're wrong. Maybe the closed minded ones or the guys who suck with controllers

I'm a PC FPS fan and love Halo.

How could you possibly suck with the controller, or suck at Halo in general? The game aims for you, heals for you, has a radar that shows you where everyone is, and the maps are tiny. All you have to do is learn the layout of the maps and you're a pro. It's learning curve is equivalent to that of an MMORPG. I absolutely hate people who think they are god's gift to video games because they are "awesome" at Halo.

They aren't any worse than the people who think they are god's gift to video games because they are "awesome" at Counter Strike.

Hehe, I actually hate Counter-Strike too but for completely different reasons (it's an unpolished, unbalanced, mess of a game). I'm not saying there is anything wrong with liking Halo. The whole beauty of the game is how accessible it is to novices and veterans alike, and I'm sure it can be tons of fun. But even the biggest fans of the game will admit it's FPS lite.

looks like a badass game with badass graphics but it is gonna take a monster of a system to run well.

I have a friend with a quad core, dual 8800GTs and 4Gb of Ram and he runs everything on medium and gets like 50-60 FPS . Granted, it's still the beta, but that is a 2500 dollar machine and it doesn't even allow him to crank everything up to high. Plus the beta only supports directx9, so there is no telling what the Dx10 will do to his rig.

it ran with no problems at low settings 1024x768 on my p4 2.4 /w a 7800gs. I bumped up some of the shader effects and a few other settings to medium and it was definitely playable, if a bit strained. Then i put everything on max for shits and giggles and it ran at like 2fps. Suprising that ir ran at all. But in the few frames i was seeing it looked pretty good. Especially the character models. Like farcry was, the release will probably be the best looking game ever.

As for gameplay, its pretty much the same as farcry. Pretty meh. If they can deliver on their multiplayer ideas it could be pretty fun.

Ran better than I thought it would on my PC. 1280 x 1024 on medium settings, only had slowdowns during the scripted scenes.

But the gameplay was nothing special.

"Another interesting note that came from this weekend – NVIDIA acknowledged that SLI scaling on Crysis was some crippled for the time being. A new driver is going to be released that will help with it, but they are saying that Crytek has a couple of fixes of their own that need to be made for proper multi-GPU performance so again, we might want to wait for the final retail version of the software to really get into the multi-GPU capabilities of the engine.

Ok yeah so SLI doesn't work yet, and nvidia just released a new beta driver (169.01) specifically saying:

"Recommended driver for Crysis single player game demo. "

It really helps performance in the demo.

I just want to know if this game is going to be good enough to warrant spending a few hundred bucks on Vista + 8800GT. The graphics look amazing, and I'm half tempted to bite the bullet just to see them, but I would love it if the managed to make a decent single player campaign (i could care less about multiplayer, TF2 runs that show).

Look at rocks or the ground and change the shader settings from medium to very high. There's so much of a difference.
