95 ford explorer

got the power wire hooked up, the wires to the sub are in and input wires are correctly connected

only wire left is the blue remote wire that goes into the back of the cd player

cant figure out how to get it in

i got two blue wires coming from the harness, one with a white line and one without

i got a blue wire with white line coming from the cd player and theyre all spliced together by whoever put in this cd player (best buy my dad THINKS )

disconnecting either of the white line wires loses sound

disconnecting blue wire without line does nothing

connecting plain blue wires separately does nothing

inserting blue amp wire into splice does nothing

i gotta put the one from the amp somewhere

besides all that the amp is sitting in protect mode as though its overheating or something

i even hooked the ground to the battery to be SURE it wasnt that and no change

wtf mates

i think ford usually uses a yellow wire for the accesory, assuming you have the factory stereo

This is how it is in my Mitsu:

Red is accessory lead
Yellow is +12V all the time
White wire is front left speaker, i think
Solid blue line is power antenna (or remote turn on if you dont have a power antenna)
Blue/White is remote turn on for an amp

I think it should be universal for other cars, but I could be wrong.

Question is: do you have a wiring harness for your car?

run the remote to any switched power source, doesn't have to be anywhere near the radio. I ran mine to the fuse box.

you've got a dead short. recheck your wiring again. if all's well, then amp is shot.

one of the blue wires is power antenna the other is the remote. if the amp is on you have it setup correctly sounds like the amp maybe toast

the amp has barely been used. so i highly doubt it was overran and burnt out. unless amps have a shelf life that we dont know about.

all you have to do is connect wires to it while it's on and fuck up... I blew an amp like that once.

simple jump from the positive to the remote terminal on the amp, and verify that you have a signal from your preouts

well yeah i know about screwing it up during install and stuff...

but it seems like 9one9 can handle to disconnect an amp and reconnect it.

we'll see though. just gotta find another amp to test.

i mean if it doesnt come on properly when you hook it straight - to ground, + to positive battery and remote turn on to + battery then it's fucked

that's not always true

if I can take a look at it I may be able to help you

otherwise try to make sure none of your wires have shorts

do you have a multimeter? that would help immensley

are all your fuses ok?

well the fuse was also shot, but after replacing the fuse, the ground used wasnt so great. went strait to the - of the batt.

yea, saying "check all the wiring" is pretty fucking obvious and not much help. What I said to do would have actually verified the amp was working and it was a wiring problem and made it easier to go from there

the system was originally hooked up in a miata. so the power wire was really short because the sub and the battery were/are in the back. i didnt think i had enough extra red power wire for him to run the system in the current truck, ford explorer, so i just said use the red power wire as a ground because 95% of the time you just run it to the chassis so its very short.

i had tons of ground wire so i told him to just use the ground (brown wire) as the power, but to make sure that he knows the difference and that if anyone else is messing with it to also know that they are switched.

well confusion struck and thats where the wires were messed up.

but it turned out i had just enough red power wire to run to the battery. so we just hooked it up like a normal person would.

the system was hooked up like anyone else would have hooked it up, just that the wires were switched cuz our laziness and cheapness to attempt to make them the right color
