http://www.ammoman.com - shipping is included in the price, and this is about as cheap as you're going to get.

Wolf brand 9mm is 169-170 per thousand shipped to your door, you can (sometimes) find it cheaper on sale. Some folks occasionally find the hundred pack value pack stuff at walmart at under 17 a box, but since prices have been going up that has gotten harder, unless you find the white box stuff sitting on the shelf there. 7/15/2007 9:52:59 PM |

^^^ Wolf is shit ammo though, and I've heard people having corrosion issues with them as well. You can shoot it, but be sure to clean your gun well when you're done.
Personally, I like Black Hills blue box if you can get it. Its factory reloads and BH is the manufacturer for the military specialty 5.56 ammo. If you're willing to drive to Fayetteville or Greensboro, there is a Gander Mountain in each that might have it.
there is always Sportsman's Guide (^) or Cheaper Than Dirt
Granted, its 2x as much as Wolf is, but its significantly better.

I have shot wolf in 45 acp, 9mm, 7.62X39, 308, 30-06 and several other sizes, never had issues. YES, some of it HAS had issues, HOWEVER, most of the issues i have seen posted are with wolf .223 ammo, which does not matter as he wants 9mm. 7/16/2007 4:56:39 PM |

^^^ 5.56 x 45mm has extraction issues in general. The Russians got it right with their 7.62 b/c of the tapered cartridge, which comes out easily as soon as the seal is broken. The 5.56 has parallel sides which don't break till you get past the shoulder of the round. 7/16/2007 9:06:49 PM |

^&^^^^extraction problems in 223Rem probably aren't from a small taper. I'd put money on the problem being sooty ammo and direct gas impingement.... 7/16/2007 10:05:04 PM |
JCASHFAN All American 13916 Posts user info edit post |
^ It isn't the only problem, and I don't have an issue in a clean gun (mine is piston operated anyway) but it is a contributing factor. 7/16/2007 11:06:31 PM |
Fumbler All American 4670 Posts user info edit post |
I guess really the taper in the 223 is no more of a contributing factor than most any other caliber. True the 7.62x39's taper is an advantage, but the 223 is tapered more than the 308Win and you don't hear many extraction issues in 308.
...I take that back. I've seen a HK 91 rip the head off of a 308 case at the range. But excluding the HKs with their fluted chambers and you don't see many extraction issues
[Edited on July 16, 2007 at 11:37 PM. Reason : I think its more an issue of gun design than cartridge design.] 7/16/2007 11:36:45 PM |
JCASHFAN All American 13916 Posts user info edit post |
You're probably right, the combination of DI and the cartridge is what causes extraction issues. You'd probably have it with any other round an M-16 design was chambered for. The taper is an advantage for the Russian 7.62 but not the only facotr. 7/17/2007 8:36:50 AM |

Wolf is not that bad. It's cheap, yes, but 99% of complaints about it are from people who have never used it.
I've run literally thousands of rounds through my Makarov, AK, SKS, and 1911 with 0 problems, and I plan on continuing to use it in my USP. Never had any corrosion.7/30/2007 7:27:44 PM |

can anybody recommend a good handgun to purchase as a first purchase. The only other handgun i've shot was a .380. Not lookin to spend over 450 if possible. Just want something that's fun to shoot and easy to maintain 10/16/2007 10:45:54 PM |

Lawmans has a bunch of used 9mm Fullsize Beretta's for around $350. That would be a great first gun and cheap to shoot. I started with a used Sig 220 .45 (paid $550)and it still is my favorite to shoot. Be sure for a first gun that you get a full-size, compacts can be a bit too much recoil to learn on. /my $.02 10/16/2007 11:31:01 PM |

You can't shoot steel core at many indoor ranges. Thats the drawback of Wolf ammo (at least for centerfire rifle rounds). If you got some land out somewhere, by all means go for it. 11/16/2007 12:44:17 AM |
