I'm second-shooting a Jewish wedding this weekend and was wondering what all typically goes on during the ceremony that I should be looking out for. I've googled it and am reading up on it, but apparently a lot of traditional stuff isn't done as often, which is why I stress the "typical". If there's something that they tend to leave out in a more conventional wedding, what would they be? I know the glass-stomping is standard, I've seen plenty of that in photography, but what about the plate-breaking (bride/mom/mom-in-law)? Do they stick to all of the blessings?
My boss also said it's going to be an all-day thing. So I'm guessing it's going to be stretched out, and not hectic? I've had brides literally make a minute-by-minute checklist.

I've only been to one but I do remember at the dinner afterwards the couple being raised on chairs and people kinda dancing circles around them. I only remember because I almost dropped the bride. Stupid alcohol. 7/16/2007 3:42:52 PM |

part of it is tricking a goy into coming and then murdering them and using their blood to make matzah balls. 7/16/2007 3:43:39 PM |

there are a couple of jewish wedding guides on google, they might have what you need
http://www.jewish-history.com/minhag.htm http://www.aish.com/literacy/lifecycle/Guide_to_the_Jewish_Wedding.asp
they might have more, i just looked up "jewish wedding", but if you look for guides specifically they probably have more

Yeah, we both give our clients wedding info stuff to fill out, but when she's in charge, I don't get immediate access to everything on it. She might give me the time/location/essentials but the rest is her telling me what to do and when to do it. Which is cool, but I feel a lot better when I've got a week to look through it. The best I can do now is research as much as I can. 7/16/2007 4:36:15 PM |

Pretty much. The chairs aren't until the reception and you'll get plenty of warning about it.
There's also the chance you'll have a blessing over bread and/or candles at the reception. Also, ask what proper attire is, since Jewish formal events seem to be a little... classier(?) than the typical Southern event.7/16/2007 6:35:19 PM |

Oy yuy yuy.
The bride told my boss to tell me to focus on "drunk photos" near the end of the reception. 7/19/2007 10:04:31 PM |

A Catholic priest says to a rabbi: "It seems to me that if the Creator made pork, He must have made it for a purpose. It must be a sin not to use it then, don't you think? When are you finally going to try it?" The rabbi replies: "At your wedding." 7/19/2007 10:34:54 PM |
