98 toyota camry v6 auto trans 170k miles
The car runs good for the most part...however when accelerating slowly the car kinda hesitates or doesn't accelerate smoothly. Normal driving and giving it more gas off the line make it seem fine.
I have checked the air filter and it is clean (replaced recently). I have thought about changing the fuel filter but just haven't had time.
Any suggestions, thanks 7/16/2007 10:18:14 PM |

this is one of those problems that could be so many things it's not even worth speculating.
but yeah, a fuel filter and a tune up (plugs, wires, etc.) is a good place to start if you're doing the throw parts at it thing. next would be going to the intake/fuel related sensors. 7/16/2007 10:23:49 PM |

anything that could be causing real damage? 7/16/2007 10:28:05 PM |

most likely not. just the annoyance and maybe decreased gas mileage. 7/16/2007 10:43:06 PM |

no... i was just saying that can sometimes be a side effect of a hesitation/misfire problem. sometimes it's not. 7/16/2007 11:00:44 PM |

i worked on one recently similar problems, but it was the transmission, low rpm low line pressure on a high mileage transmission can cause some slipping/jerking under light acceleration, quick acceleration built up enough line pressure fast enough, not saying it is your problem, but its one to throw out there since it took 4 hours of engine diagnosis to realize that wasnt the problem 7/16/2007 11:37:21 PM |
