Due out at the end of the month. I never played the first one for the GC but from what I have read, this new one is supposed to be pretty fast paced and fun. I've got to admit, I probably wouldn't be too interested in it if it weren't online capable, but I'm aching for some online multiplayer action on the Wii. Some of the ways they have implemented the Wii controller seem pretty nice too.

I've been eyeing this game for a while now, mainly since I heard it will be online compatible. I hope its as good as the previews have been showing, b/c I think a good online sports game is exactly what Wii needs to win over detractors.

I've played it a month or 2 ago, and it's fucking crazy. There's a shitload of action and weaponry compared to the original Strikers. Taking control of the goalie on super strikes is a nice touch too. It's also quite nice that all of the teammates have a specialty shot.

i preordered my copy last week (not that i think it was necessary, just helpin out a friend with his quota at gamestop)...i didnt even realize it had online multiplayer. i'll play you guys, but i wont lie to you, my consoles have a weird problem where they turn off when i'm losing late in the game.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they told me that at EB too a few weeks ago. I was kind of confused because I know they do this every now and then with video game releases. Last week the site had Guitar Hero set to release on Tuesday and it was available to pickup today. I guess they just don't ship on Sundays to release for the next day. Eh maybe they will put them out early at Wal-Mart or something, they've been known to do that from time to time.

Wow this game is actually a lot more fun than I was expecting. I'm trying to decide whether or not I like Yoshi's range or Waluigi's speed better. It seems that whever I activate super Luigi or super Mario I get frozen.

Okay so after playing it online all night, a few first impressions:

1) I'm very pleased with the pace of the game. It is very fast and hectic.
2) Online stuff needs work. Half of the games I played lost the connection at some point. Although I noticed that this only happened on the games I was winning so it is highly possible that my opponent was just a sore loser and disconnected their internet connection.
3) REALLY FUN. I like it a lot.


So what team combinations have you guys found that work? I have found a good combo with Luigi/Mario as captain with Toad on defense (he is really fast), with Dry Bones and Hammer Brothers on forward. Although I rarely get enough time to use the Hammer Brothers super strike. I'm considering trying Waluigi as I love his speed and I'm thinking it would easily be possible to use his special ability to block himself in a corner and be free to do a mega strike. I also really like Yoshi's tackle (very good range) but his special ability is kind of lame.

If you already have a wireless network setup at home then you can connect through that. If not, you can get a USB Wi-fi connector that Nintendo makes. It plugs into your computer and broadcasts a short range wi-fi signal that your Wii or DS can detect.

There are a few different options in game. You select the Nintendo Wi-Fi online community thing from the main Strikers menu and then you select a Mii to represent your account, then it loads. It took a while (~5-6 mins) for it to load for me the first time but subsequent times it took less than a minute. From there you can either enter friend codes (still a lame way of doing things), check to see if friends are online to play friendly games, do a ranked game, see your stats, etc. If you choose to do a ranked game, it matches you with a person of around the same stats, gives you what it expects the connection quality to be and asks if you wanna play them. Then you just accept (or reject), select your team captain/sidekicks and you go right in.

btw I hate the stormy pirate ship level. Every time I'm about to take a shot I get struck by lightning

i havent looked up my code yet. i did like 4/10 of the tutorial thing, then did a exhibition against the comp on 2/5 difficulty. i won 2 out of 3, but it was not pretty. gonna do the rest of the tutorial sometime tonight.

Overall this game takes parts from Mario Kart and baseball. Very fun thus far. I didnt play strikers for GC, so maybe that is a dumb statement but there it is.... Is it just me or do yall think the MegaStrike is easy to defend against when they let you point at the screen to blow up the balls flying at the goal? It's like the computer is prone to missing....

MegaStrike is kinda crappy I think because of that (Im still on the easier mode though). I also think the HammerBro's special shot is the most badass. I just dont see how you stop that slow bastard if he shoots near your goal...

i cant seem to get online. it says getting statistics for a couple minutes and then errors out.

k i just got on and played a ranked series. all the dude did was lob pass the ball back and forth until it was charged and then shoot. all i did was try to knock down the recipient of the lob pass...that was it for like 10 minutes of game play. i did manage to win the second game somehow. i'm really not good unfortunately.

well i'm just bad. i cant figure out how to get a shot past the goal keeper...i charge the shots, i pass it around and get it the ball glowing white, but he still stops the shots. meanwhile the comp is firing in shots from midfield. i hate suckin at a game, i need to figure this thing out.

played it tonight at a friends house, was a lot of fun. we went online at the end of hte night and went like 5-2 not too bad.

the hammer guys are SOOO overpowered. spam your juke for easy field position, and if he gets a chance to charge it went in about 75% of the time

Another cheap trick people use online is DK. They'll charge up blue shots to get powerups until they get DK's special, then (as DK) they'll use the ground pound somewhere in midfield then just go for a mega-strike.

Does anyone else find it kind of easy to defend against mega-strikes?
