The entire breed should be eradicated.
Unless you plan on fighting it, in which case I know this great place down in Harnett County... 7/26/2007 3:47:49 PM |

Mine was $500, purebred, bought from a lady named Cherry in Fuquay. It'll be tough finding a good one for less than $500.

the boxer is seriously my favorite breed. there isn't a sweeter dog breed around. and they are goreous dogs.
I'm presently looking for a good boxer breeder right now. And i think it will be hard finding one willing to sell for under $500. 7/26/2007 5:49:07 PM |

They are pretty dogs, but they are very hyperactive which can also lead to them being very destructive. They also tend to slobber all over everything. Not a good inside dog IMO and you definately shouldn't think of owning one if you live in an apartment. That would just be wrong. 7/26/2007 5:57:06 PM |

^ As a counter to this, there's a guy who my brother used to live next to at Trinity Commons (I think that's the right name). He has two boxers, they always seemed to get along fine (and didn't bark all the time during the day, they were quiet). The owner would always come home and take them out into the tennis court, close the gate, and let them go nuts. They were really well behaved dogs and they didn't exactly live in a giant apartment. 7/26/2007 6:11:08 PM |

all long as you make an attempt to train them respectfully and do make it a daily event to run them (because they have to run) there would be absolutely no problem - esepecially if there are two of them together. boxers are better in pairs. 7/26/2007 6:13:53 PM |

i grew up w/ boxers myself, and they are fantastic dogs.
one time my little brother (who was old enough to walk but not old enough to speak) wandered through my back-side neighbor's yard and across the street, and our dog walked w/ him the whole way. a worker who was doing some sort of remodeling on that neighbor's house came over and told us that my brother was walking around in the street, but our dog wouldn't let him get close enough to pick him up and move him.

So your dog acted aggressively towards someone who was trying to help your brother and you think that's a good story? Wow. 7/27/2007 10:48:12 AM |

^^ i'm sorry, i didn't include in the story that boxers are actually smart enough dogs that they can start up a dialog w/ strange people approaching my family, find out their exact intentions, and then respond appropriately. idiot. 7/27/2007 3:49:07 PM |

^^ What are you talking about. My whole point is that if you're going to own an aggressive dog you need to keep it under control at all times. This guy was trying to help your brother and your dog acted like a little bitch. What you see as "loyalty" everyone else sees as a menace. 7/27/2007 4:23:08 PM |
wlb420 All American 9053 Posts user info edit post |
^i call it loyalty....why would a purely aggressive dog follow the boy around to be aggressive to only people who approached them?
maybe he devised a plan to bite someone and get away with it under the cover of protecting the kid 7/27/2007 4:35:21 PM |
