when i get back to the states, i'm debating one of two things: getting a pocketpc phone OR getting a new mp3 player that has the ability to read PDFs (not necessarily ebook format, generic pdfs will do)

suggestions? i don't NEED a new phone, and the price tag + contract renewal is something of a turn off...i currently have a 5gb creative that is more than adequate, so i don't NEED a new mp3 player, either...i just desperately want the ability to read books on either my phone or mp3 player when i'm traveling

EDIT: i just realized i can probably just convert pdfs to JPEGs and read them that way, but i don't know how well that would work...either way, my current mp3 player doesn't view images

i mean sony has that new ebook reader that can play mp3s, but I think it needs a memory card and it's pretty expensive

The iPhone can read PDFs but you have to transmit them by emailing it to yourself.

And the iPod can read text files.

apple products are strictly off-limits...the iphone won't be buy-worthy for a gen or two (seriously) and ipods are STILL overpriced for what you get (unless features have changed since a year ago when i looked into getting one...which they may have)

buy any basic pda with an ebook reader and a built in mp3 player, 4 gig sd cards are dirt cheap, and then you are set.
