ever seen how they drive on most of the islands? pretty sure you'd be safer riding there in south florida traffic.
that said, i don't think registration would an issue (especially in the u.s. virgins) so much as making sure your insurance would cover you.

We'll be all over the place, not just US islands. I keep seeing shit about having to pay duties in certain areas but I can't find any specifics???
Just kicking the idea around right now. But it'd be pretty cool to strap a little 250 dual sport on the flybridge and have wheels everywhere we stop.

i really wouldn't worry about the registration as long as it's legal here. traffic enforcement is basically non existant on all of the islands i've been to (~15 of them). i've seen a few cars with tags from the states too. call up the insurance company of your choice, and see what they say about covering stuff out of the country.
i doubt some of them even have insurance requirements, but i wouldn't take the chance being without it with the way they drive down there. it's a free for all. fun as hell in a car, but i wouldn't want to be on a bike. especially in/around the towns/cities. 7/29/2007 7:37:26 PM |

Registration and insurance seem to be not much of a problem. It's the duties and clearing the vehicle through customs I can't find info on.
Like you said, I doubt I would enjoy riding in the more crowded areas. But we're going to be hitting some of the more remote and sparsely populated areas where a bike would be a f'n blast. I wonder if I could fit a little Samurai up on the bridge. 7/29/2007 7:45:08 PM |
