I was just curious how much it generally costs, if the cost is pretty standard between different vet clinics, and if there are particular places that people have used and liked. Thanks. 7/30/2007 7:11:01 PM |

it depends. dog or cat? age? size? .....typically a cat is around 50$ and a dog anywhere from 100-150$ depending on his size... 7/30/2007 7:39:05 PM |

it depends on what you want done, a spay/neuter clinic or a cheap vet will do it for $75-$100 and they'll knock the dog down, castrate him, and let him wake up with no pain management and very little post-op care. If you're willing to spend the money, you can pay $450-500 and you'll get IV Catheters, pre- and post-op care, several layers of pain management, and likely done with a laser to deaden nerve endings instead of a blade.
In most cases you get what you pay for, and typically, the end result is the same, so it's really up to what you really want for your pup 7/30/2007 8:58:09 PM |

http://www.bfpa.org/content/view/52/57/ different spay/neuter options for the area. I use the spca vouchers ^. My vet (Oberlin) accepts them and I pay an additional $30 or so for post-op pain meds. It still costs less than $100. I recommend Dr. Wages at Oberlin. She is an excellent surgeon and her sutures are very clean and always heal without infection or any problems. (Compared to work done by others)

^^ I had my cat neutered at Oberlin, and I was also very pleased with them. I opted for the pain med package, and my kitty seemed glad about that.
