Anyone ever been? Any recommendations on where to stay? Im booking a honeymoon and want to pick the best place possible. All inclusive, couples oriented etc...

i've been to the Grenadines...fucking awesome (even though our trip was cut short by an emergency in the US)...I havent actually been to St. Lucia; I flew into St. Vincent and took a boat to Young Island...I heard Mick Jagger was on St. Lucia at the time...I'd say you picked a pretty sweet place for your honeymoon though...I'll see if I can find some web links later...also its really hot down there...not to state the obvious...but its like 10 degrees north latitude...you're like 50 miles north of S. America...so yeah its pretty humid but its awesome

my parents just went there for a week for a wedding anniversary they LOVED it...i dont remember the names of any places they stayed tho, i should ask them.

they met some authentic 'islanders' right on the beach that were pretty cool. one guy climbed a few trees and got them some coconuts a few times. they went out on the ship that was used in the pirates movies etc.

a buddy of mine went there for his honeymoon a few years ago, said he absolutely loved the place. I can find out where he stayed.

we'll be stopping off there on our cruise this winter, can't wait, from what I hear it's like a caribbean hawaii

This kid I knew did a report on it in the 5th grade. Sounded pretty cool, I got stuck with Trinidad and Tobago.

I've been and I wasn't in the touristy areas. It's a really nice place...the people were all friendly from my encounters. Much like any other caribbean island, watch for pick-pockets, expect crazy drivers, never buy anything from market vendors for more than 1/2 the asking price. Do visit the gardens...i forget what they are called but it has this beautiful white waterfall that's created by the volcanic ash in the water. Do not take pictures of anyone without asking if they charge...sometimes they are scammers who will try to get you to take their picture and then ask you for money. Do try the various soft drinks...there was some pina colada soda that was pretty awesome.

I stayed at a guest house so I can't give lodging advice. Also, if you order pizza it will come with goat cheese and mystery meat. Don't ask questions, just eat it. Also, don't smoke weed. Just because the locals are smoking up doesn't mean you won't get arrested if you do.

I was just looking online for my honeymoon also. I want something all inclusive as well so i looked at Sandals and they seem to have good deals for honeymooners including the costs of airfare. You should look on that website.

My original honeymoon destination was Sandals St. Lucia, but the the flights were all 17-19 hour deals(most flying up to NY or Canada before flying down) and we decided it wasn't worth that.

But everything I looked up about St. Lucia made it seem like the ideal place to honeymoon/vacation. If I could have found a flight with a reasonable length I'd have definitely gone. Hopefully you won't have to fly into the southern airport where the Sandals is. The northern airport had more flight options.

^^ Luckily we have no plans for a fishing day trip.

I'm not exactly sure, which airport we're flying into, but I think we change planes in Miami, so hopefully the trip will be considerably shorter.

You know, I'm not really sure? We're still finishing up wedding plans, so I don't know that we've given much thought to just what we'll do there. We'll probably have a better idea once it gets closer. I imagine it'll be like our trip to Costa Rica: plan one or two excursions a day and spend the rest of the time in bars and restaurants.

We were looking at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian resort. The shortest flight I found was 17 hours and it went up to 20 hours(with layovers and such). Everything was through NYC or Canada, think that resort is on the southern part of the island. The northern resorts had some options there too that would have worked but we both really liked the Grande St. Lucian option. Once we found out about the flight time we ended up just going to Sandals Negril in Jamaica.

Met some travelers though who spoke highly of St. Lucia though and I'd still love to check it out sometime. We just didn't want that long of a flight following our wedding, knew we'd be exhausted.

That's strange, I just checked, looks like they're going out of Atlanta now. Wonder if they just added service there or if we just looked it up at a bad time back in January. Wow, definitely would have changed my decision, haha.

My future sis and bro-in law went for a vacay and did the all-inclusive at Sandals and fucking loved it. I think they did an excursion or two...but mostly they just vegged the fuck out and had a great time.

We went back in 2008 for our honeymoon. Had a great time. Stayed at the Grande.

We took a tour with a guy not with Sandals. I forget his name, he will likely try and hit you up on the beach, he's legit though, even the Sandals staff will tell you this. They drove us around in vans stocked with cold beer touring the land. Walked through a volcano, stopped at some local markets, and eventually ended with snorkeling and a speed boat ride back around the island.

You want to stay near soufriere and the pitons, avoid the east side of the island like the plague. The best way to stay is to rent a house, something along the lines of these

We actually stayed in the first one, it was pretty much the most awesome vacation spot ever. Most houses have staff that clean/cook for you for cheap, you come out way ahead of the all-inclusive resorts that cost an arm and a leg. You'll want to rent a car to get around on the sketchy roads, otherwise you end up with crazy drivers who are (sometimes) high. Top of the to-do list is to hike to the top of Gros Piton.

What's wrong with the eastern side of the island? We're staying in Soufriere at the Fond Doux Estate.

I'd heard the opposite about driving: Basically, don't rent a car because you don't know the condition of roads but taxis do.

I stayed at Anse Chastnet for my honeymoon. Its not really an all inclusive type resort but they do offer an all inclusive package. Its an awesome mindset to just be able to have someone fetch you food or drink whenever the thought pops into your head. Since this place was more of a boutique type resort there weren't any writstbands or spring breakers or anything. It was just really relaxing. They probably have more staff than guests. I wouldn't always vacation so leisurely but the honeymoon was a good excuse to just be lazy.

So in conclusion, i would highly recommend Anse Chasenet.

Constant wind on the east side of the island. Look at a map, all of the cities are on the western side of the island for a reason.
