ncmp is kinda ghetto, its near the afton/ebelron mud bog, been there a few times, not impressed, by the end of the week, ruts on the jumps are bad enough to own a pro, or kill a n00b

busco ftw because of its sheer size lack of rules. Facilities are also getting better, although they did just raise prices (from 5 per person and 5 per bike or quad to 5 per person and 10 per bike i think)

They have a few new jumps out by the "power lines" and the ones by the main parking area. If its dry you can ride most all of the trails by the neuse. If its wet... not a chance

Busco is definitely the best place to ride in the area. I'd recommend getting pretty much all the standard safety gear: helmet, goggles, chest protector, boots, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves. The jersey and pants are nice to have also. Be prepared to dump a few hundred bucks on it. I've ordered stuff from http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ before. If you have a good sturdy pair of work boots, you can wait on the boots for a while. You WILL have some hard landings while trail riding, especially at Busco where there are plenty of ruts in the trail to throw you off balance. You'll learn to appreciate your safety gear, and still end up with plenty of bruises. My fiance created a trail riding myspace group to document some of our rides and the mods he's done to his bike. http://groups.myspace.com/trailrider

Didn't you learn anything from 70's movies and tv shows? The best places to ride a dirt bike are:
1. Peoples' grass. Make sure your knobbies are extra knobby and dump that clutch son.
2. Train tracks. The quickest way from point A to point B is a straight line.
3. Baseball fields. While that rich boy baseball team is trying to practice.
4. The street. When all else fails go DOT loco.
