My wife and I are going to visit some good friends who live in Sugarland (about 20 miles away from Houston) at the end of September.

We will be staying for about a week.

Sugarland was ranked the third best place to live in the U.S. by CNN money in 2006, and it's the fastest growing city in the state of Texas...who knew?

What are some things that are really fun/interesting to do in Houston. Two Couples, late 20's, early 30's. No kids on this trip!

I havent been to Houston in about 20 years, so I have no idea what is worth a damn there.

Any help would be awesome!

^^LMAO.

You are probably right.

I was like "Honey, lets go see a Texans game!"

She basically looked at me like, GTFO.

i've spent 7 weeks off and on in this summer an hour and a half west of houston. the first week there we checked out the city and decided that it wasn't worth the hassle of going back into the city again. its one giant strip mall. rice village is okay, but i wouldn't go out of my way to to see it. the locals say the galleria district is the happening place, but its named after the mall so . . . having never personally visited the galleria district, i can't vouch for it either way. i'm pretty sure i wouldn't voluntarily visit or move to houston. its very flat, hot, lots of concrete, and well, that's about all i got out of it.

oh, they like their roads in houston. they have interchanges that make atlanta's spaghetti junction look like a 4-way stop, some built directly over houses.

iah may be the most convoluted airport in the nation.

1. Sit in traffic
2. Space center is OK, but it's tailored to commoners and kids, so they barely show you any cool tech stuff.
3. You picked the wrong time to go. You'll pass out from heat exhaustion just looking out a window.

a humid 80 feels hot and terrible but todays dry 100 felt AMAZING

i also ventured out to galveston when i was down there. . .holy crap. apparently people's idea of going to the beach in texas is driving up to the sea wall and either sit in your car or sit on the side walk beside your car. you couldn't pay me enough to go in the water.

are you crazy? the locals don't call Galveston "Stinkytown" for no reason. that place is an industrial hellhole that makes your local raw sewage treatment plant look like a family vacation destination.

Wow from the way you guys describe Houston, it makes me realize that it isn't too bad here in Huntsville, AL.

Houston sucks. The most fun thing that you can possibly do in Houston is try to run through a stage of a Saturn V rocket.

I ended up in Galveston once, which was my only experience in Texas.

Safe to say I'll be just fine with never visiting that state again.

If you absolutely have to spend time in Texas, your first option is Austin.

There is no second option, anyplace else in the whole state just sucks.

Sorry but all the posters on here are right... Houston sucks... All of Texas sucks... Sure, if you are forced to spend time there Austin is the place to be, but you just realize that the hipsters and lesbos that live in Austin are still...

Texans...

It is by far the worst state I have been to in the upper 48.

yea i spent about 8 months living in texas.

houston sucks. galveston smells.

you can do the whole museum thing if youre into that. other than that, its just a traffic jam. look into concerts during that time span

there is approx. 85743958739303958 golf courses in houston, but i hope you dont like hills when you play glof, and enjoy 110 heat index with 98% humidity

Houston is ok though, but you have to go into the city, stay away from industial areas though

From what I've heard Austin is really nice and has an awesome live music seen

Get a portable DVD player and go up to people on the street and show them the last 40 seconds of the '83 Championship and then tell them how much they suck and that Guy Lewis looked like a tool in that sport jacket.
