I ran across this band recently--I like them. I hear influences such as Morrissey, U2, and maybe even a dash of The Cure.

^ Meh, Tom Smith of Editors sounds a little like Paul Banks of Interpol. But I think Editors' overall sound is actually closer to Coldplay--with a lot more of an indie sound, but still having a good pop sensibility. Hell, I've even seen them compared to Big Country--and I can actually hear a good bit of that sweeping soundscape.

PS: Apparently, members of Editors met while they were in a music program at Staffordshire University. So, I guess they at least have some traditional training, which never hurts.

As did I. I saw them when they opened for Stellastar* at the Cradle a while back. Damn... that may have been well over a year ago now. Time flies.

They were pretty cool guys though, I"ll give 'em that. They had no qualms shooting pool with the plebians in the back of the Cradle after their set was finished.

i really dont see the Interpol thing except the voice somewhat.

the music itself has little comparison and the Editors are much more accomplished musicians from a musicians stand point.

but who cares, neither float my boat.

The guitarist for Editors often creates sonic riffs that actually remind me of stuff by Explosions In the Sky. Editors have more of a pop sensibility, though.

if you comapre a band to interpol, use phrases like stout, bitter, pale etc

ie, "that band sounds like interpol stout"
