What's your license level?
Any plans to upgrade?
What kind of rig do you have?

I am a Technician.
Plan to goto Amateur Extra soon.
Don't have a rig now. Open to ideas for moderately priced handhelds.
I also interested in signing up for MARS and ARES.

KG4VAL
Technician Class
I never really planned on upgrading anytime soon.
My whole family got licenses as a means of communicating..(better than walkie talkies)

I don't own my own rig..always used my father's..i'd have to ask them what they all are

Damn man, I really want that sexy stud, but it's too expensive. What kind of an antenna have you bought/constructed for it?

BTW Gargs:
If you want to get your feet wet in Ares related groups first
try Central Carolina Skywarn:

That will give you a good idea of what all is involved...

I got my General license at the end of May and just upgraded to Extra at the end of July. I'm still waiting on my paperwork to come back where I applied to become a VE.

I don't have any HF equipment, but my neighbor/cousin back home does, so I go over there to get on hf. What I'd like for now is the Yaesu FT-857d, because of it's size. It's also a pretty great radio.

Since this started as a ham topic, I've got a ham related question.

I need an SMA female to PL259 male to adapt an antenna with a SMA connector to plug into a mobile/base radio. They're abundant at hamfests and I've just never picked one up. http://www.gigaparts.com/store.php?action=profile&sku=ZCB24019 Shipping is more expensive than the actual item, anywhere locally that sells these?

That'd be great if you had a couple of them. I'll be glad to pay you though. Just PM me when/if you find them and we'll work something out. Thanks.

I have an RCI-2950, nice microphone, and a box of other stuff I haven't used for a while. I'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price if anybody is interested. I think the RCI-2950 has a 26-32 Mhz range.

pm me if interested in more details...
