i'm just havin a little trouble understanding why there's a dichotomy in this thread? there's 1 band thats had like 2 songs on the radio, and 1 band thats had 0 (or at least none that i've ever heard). there's not much difference between the two, not even stylistically. only difference i can tell is that guster can actually sing, whereas the guy from the other band sounds like tiny tim.

i've seen guster live 3 times and own guster on ice. they're pretty damn good live, but don't hold a candle to the avett brothers. and you should listen to some better radio stations, i've heard them quite a few times. finally, are you kidding me? those guys can sing their asses off. the harmonies are glorious.

i'm just trolling. i honestly dont care. i plan on comin to see guster and i'll see the other guys then. i dont listen to the radio at all, but i got into guster back in 97 when i heard airport song on the radio here in charlotte at 2am during their obscure music hours.

i did think the lead singer for the other band sounded bad, but i only listened to one song and would not generalize based on such a limited sample. was just trying to get a rise out of the fanboys here. i think guster is outstanding, and i'm not sure why the thread is consisting of bashin guster to build up the avett bros. can they not both have good shows and be a solid double feature?

^^^ I don't think anyone is really being a fanboy. I just think theres some people who just don't like Guster. Just like there's some that don't care for the Avett bros, it goes both ways. It's just one of those shows where you're like, "fuckin a, I gotta sit through this shitty band to see who I want to see." There's nothing wrong with anyone liking Guster, I just don't like their music and I don't want to see them.

they honestly put on the best live show i've ever seen

my roommate turned a group of us on to them freshman (Mt. , the Avetts graduated from his high school (Mt. Pleasant High)

we've been following them for years, and they just keep getting bigger and bigger, when i heard they were doing our homecoming i almost wet myself

when I was at ECU, scott, the lead singer was in a hardcore band called nemo with his brother, the other guitarist. Scott was a painting major there so I would have some foundation classes with him as I was in graphic design there. Anyway, one day at one of the NEMO shows, they were like "we're going to try something a little different tonight. Hope y'all like it" and played their first Avett show. It was at the percolator coffee shop, and the Avett's were born. The real good shit is back when them and Valiant Thor would play together at Peasants. Good times. Greenville's music scene was always one of the best parts of living there.
