The first one wasn't lame because of the lack of gore(even though that did made it harder to believe)...it was because it just flat out sucked donkey balls

I think it's funny that they now have to put out a very gory red band trailer, which imho shows way too much, just to get the gorehound audience

So is it the opinion of the community that every Alien movie made since #1 has sucked balls?

It kinda interests me how the movies have evolved so far away from where the series started. You originally had this amazing suspense movie that scared the shit out of audiences, not because of the violence, but because you never saw the alien. Then you had a second movie which wasn't suspense, but an action flick. Then you had this lovely progression of sequel vomit that has persisted ever since.

I pray that this at least returns us to where the second movie degraded the concept to. That was an acceptable level.

Aliens ("alien 2") was great. Everything after that I can't even remember. Never saw the first AVP. Heard it sucked. Maybe should have been called "AVP: In Antarctica: In a Pyramid" ?

New trailer looks pretty cool, though a tad overkill maybe. I remember the original Predator and the first two alien movies being intense while only having a modest amount of gore and most of it insinuated (Predator had a bit more gore). The "John Rambo" pretrailer I saw a while back on Aintitcoolnews was similar; heavy handed with the gore: making pulpy "human-ade" out of the guy in the jeep with the mounted machine gun. Maybe they're trying to make up for lost time? Anyway, looking forward to the movies!

Really skeptical about this one. AVP was so much of a letdown that it's hard for me to get excited about this. Still, though, I will most likely go see it.

One thing which could be interesting: If the crashed spaceship is the same one which is seen at the end of AVP, then it'd lead me to believe that all of the Predators in this movie are gonna be hardcore hunters. I wonder if any of the "Predator lore" elements from the first AVP comics will have anything to do with this movie? It certainly doesn't look like it since the Predators appear to be indiscriminately killing humans as well as aliens.

And im sorry, but i just dont think they could ever create a "bad" alien or predator movie. I dont care if the script or acting is lame...its fucking Aliens!!

I don't know anything about the comics etc., but if the Predator(s) is on Earth to hunt Aliens why does it look like he is randomly killing humans that aren't even in his way? Especially after seeing the first AVP, it seemed the Predators liked a "challenge" and random unarmed humans running away doesn't seem very fun.

Now, see, THAT would be completely awesome. I want to see a super-hunter Predator just go insane on the aliens. It does make me wonder, though (if this is indeed true), if it would be the same "elder" Predator seen at the end of AVP.

I'm curious about this as well because it could draw upon the Predator lore established in the comics. In the first Dark Horse AVP series (which was brilliant), one elder Predator is in charge of a hunting expedition as a sort of "rite of passage" for younger Predators. He is accidentally incapacitated by a startled human, and the younger Predators go berserk out of revenge and kill anything that moves. Once the leader recovers, he realizes that the fledglings are hunting humans - and this is shown to be NOT acceptable. The elder then turns on many of the young Predators when they refuse to stop hunting the humans and unite against the aliens.

I dunno, but it looks better than AVP, even if I can't tell anything about the story at all. Its got to be rated R if its going to be good, so glad to hear it will be.

Man, the original Predator movie was so damn awesome. Just one predator kicking all kinds of ass. Would love to see this happen in the new one.

AVP the movie was so bad though. Everyone in the theater (opening night) was just laughing.

the directors of this movie come from doing visual effects, so it makes sense that they would want to utilize a lot of that.

I understand what he's saying, but lets face it, unless James Cameron feels like picking up the torch again, we're never getting another Alien/Aliens caliber movie out of this franchise. I'd much rather have an action packed gore fest with B-list actors that didn't take itself too seriously, over the abomination that was Alien: Resurrection.
