Alright guys, I'm new to linux, I've played around with the live CDs several times. But recently acquired a P3 machine that I want to use as a linux playground. I installed ubuntu 6.06 yesterday and I want to install more versions of linux up there to play with and see which ones I like best. So the main question is, do I have to have a swap partition for each install or can they all use the exact same swap and just have their own separate partitions for themselves?

they can all use the same provided that you're only running one at a time and they are cleanly shutdown/unmounted

thanks man, i ended up installin/replacing them one by one last night till I found one that i liked. I think Fedora Core is the one for me so far, I have yet to try Suse and some of the others, but so far I really like FC6, gonna download FC7 and install it later
