I have a Yamaha HTR-6090 receiver i just bought and I have decent front tower speakers and rear speakers, but am lacking a center speaker that doesn't sound like shit (i have some old one i found).

What's a good center speaker i can get for under $200.01? and where

the receiver is about 120W per channel ( 7 channels ).

Technically, for timbre's/tone's sake, anyway, you'd be best to stick with the same brand AND series as your front towers. Ideally, the whole system would be setup this way, but you can USUALLY get around that for the rears.

However, if you're a casual listener and just want something that sounds good, see if you can pick up a used Paradigm center...great speakers, fantastic sound. If you like bright, some of the Klipsch line isn't too shabby either.

front speakers are about 10y old, so no matching fronts, rears are different, so matching the center isn't a problem to me until i can afford an entire set in a year+.

i'll check those out on ebay, thanks.

don't cheap on the center.

80% of the sound from a movie comes from there.

^ Agreed. Do NOT cheap out on the center (at least relative to the cost of the rest of the system...) - your center is super important...

..also, since it sounds like you're planning ahead a bit. You may be best suited to do the research and decide on what you want to purchase in a year or so, and buy the center for that set now rather than making another purchase later on.

If you plan it appropriately, it can work out well...

good luck!
