I've got a Dreamhost account, a couple Macs, and a couple Windows machines. I'm looking for a way to make the Dreamhost account a mountable workspace that can be shared by the computers.

I've looked into WebDAV, but I'm having trouble getting it to mount to OS X using Finder. Does anyone have any experience setting something like this up with a webhost?

I have setup webdav and in general it works pretty well. I haven't done it on a Mac though. Have you tried searching google for a tutorial?? Are you getting any error messages?

^^ keep this thread updated if you figure it out, i want to try to do that in OS X as well

from what i remember, you can mount an ftp server as a drive, but as read only i think

Google's always my first hit. Most of the things I found were either outdated (OS 10.1) or irrelevant (setting up iCal shares). I'll dig deeper when I have more time. The error message I'm getting talks about the network drive not being found... I forgot the exact verbiage but I'll set it up again and update the thread with the error message when I get a few minutes to do so.

Fry, you're right about FTP being read-only when it's mounted in finder. Some 'security' feature. If anyone knows something or finds something out, please clue us in. Otherwise, I'll follow up with any of my own findings.

apparently it may be in Leopard, but apple scrapped the page... meaning either the feature was scrapped as well or they just wanted to hide the page when a few ppl found it...
