i think that was part of a plan where he would announce he would step down in order to not bring bad publicity to NBC, so NBC could then say "no, no, we forgive you, come on back" and Baldwin would come out looking better for it

i just finished rewatching 1/2 of season 1 last week - they had some really killer episodes there. i'm sure they'll get it back this season.

yeah the blatant advertising in the show is a constant theme... like the snapple jokes in that one entire episode last year

yeah, i know the snapple thing, and they worked it in well by making it blatent and over-obvious.
The first Bee Movie reference was a very quick shot of a TV sitting in the background that was running a Bee Movie ad, right after they showed a real Bee Movie ad during the previous break. That particular shot was what I would call subtle product placement, where you notice something out of the corner of your eye, but they don't explicitly point it out. That's what annoyed me. The conversation between Seinfeld and Jack and the multiple Bee Movie references and the "opening November 2nd" into the camera were fine, because even though it is product placement, it's an obvious parody too
