"Pack loses Pressley indefinitely with knee injury
N.C. State senior tackle DeMario Pressley is out indefinitely and will have surgery on his knee, N.C. State football officials said today.

The injury occurred Thursday and the diagnosis was made today. No other details were immediately available.

Pressley is the third top State player to go out due to injury in the still-young season.

State lost starting tight end and one of the ACC's top pass catchers, Anthony Hill, to a knee injury before pre-season practices began. In the Pack's first game, a loss to Central Florida, running back Toney Baker went down, also with a knee injury.

[More:]

Pressley, 21, was dogged by injuries in the past year, but was still expected to lead State's defense. He was one of the team's most experienced players, having started in 24 games. There was talk of him going to the NFL after the season.

Last year, Pressley injured his wrist in the UNC game toward the end of the season and had surgery. He broke a toe later and missed much of spring practice.

Pressley has not been redshirted, which means he could likely sit out the season and return next year.

Pressley had been one of the nation's top recruits out of Greensboro Dudley High School.

Yikes. Without both starting DTs, I don't like our chances. Our front 7 is in trouble.

Who is behind Bedics and Larsen? Any chance Martrel Brown spends time inside?

man this season is going to be down the tubes already worse than what it was. if we continue at this rate, we'll be lucky to match last season's record.

maybe we should take out all our starters that haven't redshirted and play younger people this year. then we might have a chance next year.

That last sentence is somewhat misleading. Since he played in the UCF game, he cannot get a regular redshirt. However, since he only played in one game before getting injured, he can apply for a medical hardship for the season, which he will likely get. The fact that he hasn't redshirted just makes it more likely that the NCAA will approve the medical hardship request. The MH acts in exactly the same way as a RS - he would be able to return next season as a RS-SR and have full eligibility if he applies and they approve.

I'd bet that Antoine Holmes and Martrel Brown spend a little bit of time inside, but they can't stay on the DL for the whole damn game. I'd guess that Markus Kuhn will have to come on at some point.

Pressley out for BC game
Senior defensive tackle DeMario Pressley will have surgery on injured knee
Brian Grossman
Deputy Sports Editor

N.C. State will be without both of its starting defensive tackles for its game with Boston College on Saturday.

Senior left tackle DeMario Pressley and redshirt sophomore right tackle Alan Michael Cash will both miss Saturday's game against the Eagles.

Pressley "tweaked" his knee during non-contact drills in practice Thursday and is out "indefinitely," according to Annabelle Myers, assistant athletics director for media relations.

"He'll have surgery on his knee within the week - probably early in the week," Myers said Friday afternoon.

Myers said Pressley "wasn't sure" whether or not he'd make the trip to Boston College with the team when she last spoke with him.

Pressley's return to the team could depend on how the surgery goes, but it could also depend on his rehabilitation schedule once the surgery is completed. It was unclear which knee Pressley injured, and it is Media Relations policy not to disclose the information.

Cash will miss Saturday's contest to attend the funeral of his father.

In July, the ACC selected Pressley to its preseason All-ACC team. And just prior to the season, Pressley was one of 60 players named to the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list. The Lombardi Award is presented to the top lineman in college football.

Pressley has not redshirted a season in his time at State. He could apply for a medical hardship with the NCAA if it turns out he will miss the whole season, which would enable him to be eligible to play next season.

But Myers did not speculate as to the length of his absence, reiterating that it will depend on the surgery and rehab.

Responses to Pressly's injury on Inside Carolina:

Joshua21 says:

"All right... I'm tired of the politically correct responses about "hate it for the kid" or "I don't care about the rivalry, this really stinks"....

I'm going with my knee jerk response... LOL!!!

Come on... how many on here truely feel sorry for ncsuck with the losses at TE, RB and now their best DL. I know I don't

No doubt about it Hub I have no ill wishes for Demario's future... but you can't tell me your VERY FIRST response wasn't bursting into laughter. This is absolutely hilarious"

Some of the other responses are worse. I know I am just adding fuel to the fire, but whatever it shocked me.

Ha ha this season could be the worst in the history of the school. Definitely looking at double digit losses.

Thank goodness for Wofford

^ I think the fact that we play Wofford is a bad thing.... easy to make fun of a loss to Wofford (See: Michigan)

At least if we got our ass handed to us by an LSU, FLA, USC or other incredibly talented OOC game, it would be expected

^ I mentioned Wofford because it could end up being the only win we get all season. Atleast we won't finish with zero wins like Duke. Also luckily we'll play Wofford before our losing streak gets too long and starts making national attention.

I know that gopack.com isn't the most reliable source for info, but on the game notes section for the preview to tomorrows game it says that pressley is starting and cash is out. There is nothing mentioned on pressley being hurt.

Whats the deal?

The deal is that you NEVER rely on gopack.com for any amount of credible information whatsoever.
