Quote :
"Former N.C. State running back T.A. McLendon was arrested in his hometown of Albemarle Monday and charged with possession and intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for the intent to sell marijuana, simple possession of marijuana and driving with a revoked license.

He was arrested at a traffic stop on Summit Avenue near Wall Street at around 1:50 p.m.
Maj. Ted Smith, of the Albermarle Police Department, said McClendon's bond was set at $5,000. A trial is set for Oct. 8.

McLendon, 24, was a star tailback at Albemarle High School and later had a successful career at N.C. State before leaving early for the NFL. However, he failed to make an NFL roster and returned to his hometown, where he is often seen in the community. Smith said he had recently seen McLendon at an Albermarle High football game

McLendon rushed for a whopping 9,004 yards and 170 touchdowns in his career at Albermarle High and was the ACC rookie of the year in 2002. But injuries slowed his career at State, and he had 770 yards on 167 careers as a junior before turning pro.
McLendon was not drafted and never made an NFL roster."

here is my list of the most dominant college players I have ever seen (not saying they had the best career, just saying that the particular time(s) I saw them play, they couldn't be stopped)

1. Herschel Walker
2. Calvin Johnson
3. Bo Jackson
4. T.A. as a freshman
5. Robert Edwards

he could've played in Canada, Europe, or the indoor league.

are there sports agents that serve the smaller markets? what are athlete salaries like in the lower leagues?

Reggie Bush should be on that list IMO. Also Curtis Enis was fucking ridiculous his last year at Penn State.

^^ no way, i saw Bush stopped before if teams really wanted to... he was too much nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, HUGE PLAY, nothing, nothing

^ same thing with Holt, very good, very prolific, but not unstoppable

the only thing that stopped Calvin Johnson from being unstoppable was Reggie Ball not being able to pass within 10 yards of him. Calvin Johnson had to act like spiderman to reel in some of the errant passes thrown his way..

^^^ and ^^ exactly

there were plays where EVERYONE knew where the ball was going, he was double or tripled teamed, and still scored

^ you could scheme to take holt out... that might leave the rest of the team open, but nonetheless you could stop holt if you really wanted to... with Johnson you couldnt do shit except fuck Ball up

how was he any more dominant than torry? if you're saying its not about stats, how are you going to claim calvin was more dominant? just by saying "Calvin was more dominant"? Ok "Torry was more dominant"

Charles Rogers was the only receiver in the same league as Calvin Johnson in college in the past decade.

Torry was good, but if this wasn't an NCSU board, he wouldn't even be in the conversation.

Don't be a homer.

dude, I put fucking Robert Edwards on there... do you even know who he is? he had shit stats because he was always hurt, but his first game against TN he blew my mind... we couldnt stop him no matter what we did... then right before half time he hurt his knee and we dominated in the second half... just dumb luck, Tenn. couldnt do anything to stop him. Same thing with Johnson, he had a shitty QB, much more conservative offense than what Holt played under and still just flat out dominated.

^ exactly
and a lot of people would claim that IN COLLEGE K-Rob and maybe even Cotchery were just as good as Holt but Johnson was on a whole other level

he was 8th in heisman voting...i guess a lot of receivers get 3 TDs on Florida State when Florida State is at their peak

K-Rob had better numbers than Holt in college...I don't know anybody who isnt retarded that would claim Cotchery was just as good in college as Holt

Hell Mike Williams dominated more than Calvin Johnson

Don't be a hater just because you're trying not to look like a homer

What??? Torry never played under Amato. Rivers came during Amato's first year and by that time Torry was in the NFL.

Torry is a good addition to this list because he would take over a game and teams did everything they could to keep the ball out of his hands. His games in 97 (5 TDs) and 98 (2 TDs) against FSU back when they were good were both amazingly sick. He absolutely dominanted their defense.

[Edited on September 12, 2007 at 12:50 PM. Reason : okay my bad. I figured you meant Amato game planned for Torry.]

^^their memories probably only go back 2 years like yours appears to

and Mike Williams was the most dominant college receiver in the last 5-10 years

hey how come Georgia Tech is even better this year WITHOUT Johnson?

^i guess a 1 year career is still a career

6-foot-5, 240 pounds, runs a 4.3 in the 40, amazing hands, runs perfect routes.

God dammit, you still dont understand what I am talking about...

It has nothing to do with stats, or how the team did, it has to do with the players that you would attempt to stop them from doing what they wanted to do and you just couldnt. Once again, Robert Edwards had shitty stats, played for Georgia when they were average to slightly better than average, but none of that has anything to do with how dominant he was the first time he played (before he got hurt)

Reggie was great and should be in the top 5 on most people's list.

But he wasn't dominant in the sense that he carried his team like Herschel, Ricky Williams or Adrian Peterson did.

Dominance is 6-7 yards EVERY carry, not an average of 6-7 resulting from several 40 yard runs and a whole lot of 1-2 yard runs.

I'd rather watch Reggie Bush play than any of the aforementioned, but I'd rather have any of the aforementioned if I was building a team.
