sptitp.dll never installs correctly, and fubars the windows install.... its not an issue with the disk.... or the drive.... could be with the motherboard or optical drive for some reason

this file comes at 90% on the initial windows xp install

Have you tried another Windows disc?

[Edited on September 13, 2007 at 9:40 PM. Reason : although corrupt files usually show up earlier in the install]

what did you use to slipstream it...nlite? and if nlite, then the 1.4 beta?

i had a problem recently using nlite 1.4 beta...i slipstreamed the most recent updates and SOMETHING in the latest patches in combination with the 1.4 beta screwed up a windows install every single time on different machines

i used ryanvm and it worked fine

*shrug*

A bad slipstream is known to cause weird issues just like you described ... you're best off trying a different version of nLite as suggested.

^When all fails, yup. But it is nice to have a working copy of a slipstreamed disk, it takes much less time to do a fresh install that way.

On a side-note ... SP3 for WinXP is due out in early 2008, it's basically a roll-up of all the previous patches since SP2. That'll be nice.

indeed, nothing sucks more than after a install having to wait for another 1-2 hours to get even more patches and such...

now i just need to get my hands on a vanilla xp disc....

(no code needed)
