For some reason my secondary harddrive stopped showing up as a listed harddrive "D:\" in my computer and whenever I try to access it.

I thought it may have broken but it still shows up in Device Manager as working "correctly" and it shows up when i enter the BIOS menus on computer start up. I can not figure out what the issue is.

that did not work.

It turns out the whole drive somehow became unpartitioned. I had to repartition it and reformat the drive. All that was on the drive was backups of my main drive stuff. although i did store my movies solely on this drive since they took up so much memory.

maybe there's an option to boot to utilities as the bios screen appears? I know dell has SMART testing - as well as more thorough tests.

otherwise you could goto the website of the hard drive manufacturer and download their official utilities. I know seagate and WD have their own bootable utils
