i've got the white screen of death on my z520 and have read the only way to fix it is to replace the flex cable. Its only about 10 bucks total to get the tools and cable but I haven't been able to find any dependable instructions on how to do it. Have any of you guys tried something similar? I imagine its not too complicated as long as i'm gentle with the connectors.

I still prefer a flip so i don't have to lock the keys so if you figure it out let me know.

That particular model is fairly simple to tear down and reassemble. If you still have questions there are countless Sony Ericsson Co-ops here at state (as I once was) that can answer your questions. That being said I no longer have the tools to work on them but they are as you said readily available, and I can answer any simple questions you may have.

i just got a w580i, and i absolutely love it

keys lock when u slide shut, data backup is real easy too

i just love the phone..it's size, sound, weight. so i want to try a shot at repairing it.


muteki should the old flex cable remove fairly easily and the new flex cable snap firmly into place with the connectors?
