OK, while i'm out-of-country, my mom let our insurance lapse for 2 weeks (stupid move on her part, I know). The DMV sent her letter, and asked her to pay the fine of $50. The letter stated that they have to receive the payment by the 11th. Anyway, she sent the payment in on the 7th, but for some reason, the DMV didn't receive it by til the 12th. Why does it take 5 days for a letter to get from one Raleigh address to another is beyond me. So now the DMV wants her to turn her plate in for 30 days. The problem is that both me and her will have to turn our plates in because I'm on her insurance plan. Is there anyway to fix this? Do I need a lawyer? Both of us need our cars to go to work. 9/21/2007 7:00:52 PM |

Raleigh mail fucking blows.. I had a similar situation once that basically ended in my license being suspended because it took like 2 weeks for the money to get to the DMV.. I had no idea, got pulled for speeding and the cop took my license and made me have somebody come get me..
Call the DMV and see what they say, I wouldn't bother with a lawyer yet. The envelope would obviously be post-marked on the day it was mailed which was clearly plenty of time for it to make it to the DMV..
