I've got an old G3 iMac I'm playing with and nothing runs on 9.2
I'd give $15 for a set of disks (CD's, no DVD drive on Mac) 9/24/2007 3:34:50 PM |

since Mac OS X doesnt require keys to install, just goto newzbin.com and download a DVD image of the disc... 9/27/2007 3:03:03 PM |

^^^ 10.3 installs cleanly, 10.4 you need a 3rd party thing that disables the catch(s) that blocks it from installing on a G3 iMac, so I'd rather get 10.3
^ I didnt know such a thing existed, I'll check it out, thanks (although honestly I'd rather just have a legit install disk)
also, the iMac is now playing dead, so it currently doesnt matter anyways. I got it all put back together (new harddrive, new stick of ram) and it flat refuses to do anything when I push the power button. First instinct is power supply, or that I hit somthing vital while messing about, I'll poke around 9/27/2007 7:38:33 PM |

Aaand it magically springs back to life. No idea why. I tore it down as far as I could easily go looking for loose cords, didnt find any, put it back together and poof. On a related note, anyone know if the applestore would concider diagnosing a machine of this age? (~8 years old) Not repairing, just diagnosing.
I just got a new copy of 10.3 off ebay, paid a little more than I wanted to, but eh. The box'll work now

About all they are going to do, and it wont be free is... Run TechTool Pro on it and see what it flags, possibly a unique apple tool... Either way you are going to pay, apple loves there money! lol 9/28/2007 2:16:56 PM |
